"He knows about Harry," Dumbledore spoke somberly. "If we have any chance in this fight against prophecy, you must go into hiding." Dumbledore stood in the Potter's living room, carrying the bad news to them.

"Already? I'm not- I'm not ready" James stammered, looking frantically around at his friends and family. Effie and Monty stood in the doorway, holding each other. Remus sat next to Lily on one of the sofas, Lily holding Harry. Sirius stood by the stairway, and Peter stood near Dumbledore. Everyone had a look of disbelief on their faces.

"It's alright James. We'll do the fighting. You keep your son safe. You and the longbottoms. Hopefully the child of prophesy makes it out okay" Sirius said.

"I- What about my garden? What about you guys?" James looked at his parents.

"We will be fine alone son, we have Sirius, at least until he decides to finally move into that flat of his," Monty said with a sad smile. "We will miss you, but you have to go."

James nodded. He was barely processing anything as he and Regulus said their goodbyes and went to their safe house. Their home. Now only Peter could find them.

"We'll be okay love" Regulus leaned against James's shoulder. They both sat on the sofa, Regulus cradling Harry.

"What about Sirius and Remus? They're fighting again because of me. And mom and dad. I can't leave them alone while we're being targeted"

"But there's nothing we can do. If Harry is the child of prophecy, we need to protect him. Even if he isn't, he is our son. No matter the reason Dumbledore has for us going into hiding, it's to protect Harry."

James sighed, "You're right. I just wish there was a way I could help end this war"

"Stay, and keep Harry safe. Stay with me." Regulus grabbed his hand.

James nodded, "you're right."

"Sirius, love, can we talk bout this?" Remus begged, sitting outside Sirius's door. He leaned his head against the wall in defeat. After James and Regulus left, Sirius retreated back into his bedroom, refusing to talk to Remus again. After Remus said that Sirius shouldn't be the secret keeper, Sirius locked himself up.

"Come on darling, it's been hours. I made you some tea." Effie came over in the hallway and helped Remus stand up, leading him to the sofa.

"Sirius and his goddamn avoidant issues" Remus muttered, "I just want him to talk to me. I know he's suspicious of me. He has been since he found out about the traitor, but he just pretended like nothing was wrong for months until it reemerged. If he would have talked to me this wouldn't have happened." Remus sighed, leaning back against the cushions and taking a long sip of the herbal tea.

"He loves you," Effie said, placing a hand on Remus's shoulder.

"Does he? It doesn't seem like it. He pushes me away every time I try to get close."

"Have you shown him love? Have you made sure he knows that you love him? You know where his issues come from. He and Regulus are extremely similar in that regard, and you see how he and James are," Effie said, "Those two went through a lot to get where they are now."

"Well, that's James. He's better at this than I am" Remus groaned. "I do love him."

"Do you?" Sirius said from the staircase. "You clearly have a problem with me and my 'avoidant issues' and you have major trust issues."

Effie took that as her cue to step out of the room, leaving the two boys alone.

"Sirius-" Remus tried to stand up, but his leg shot up with pain.

"I'm breaking up with you. I can't- I can't do this anymore." Sirius's face was red, stained with past tears, but it was dry and full of anger.

"Can we talk about this first?" Remus grabbed his cane and tried getting closer to Sirius.

"No. I want you to leave."

"What can I do to fix this? I need you, Sirius. I love you."

"Well, I don't. Not anymore. And I have no way of knowing if you aren't the traitor. And if it is you, I will not hesitate to kill you." Sirius' gaze was cold.

"You don't mean that. You love me. I- Please tell me you love me." Remus was sobbing, struggling to get words out. He felt like he had just been hit with the Avada Kedavra spell. The worst pain in his life. He didn't want to go home. He spent most nights either at the Potter's with Sirius, in the flat Sirius got from Alphard, or on missions. He had barely been home, and he didn't want to go home, to see his parents who were terrified of him. He wanted to wrap himself up in Sirius' arms, but he couldn't do that anymore.

"Leave, please." Tears welled up in Sirius' face.

Remus nodded, and left, leaving behind everything. His clothes in Sirius' closet and on the floor, and his broken heart crushed in Sirius' hand

Chat this is happening a year earlier than canon because circumstances happen. There's no realistic way that Voldemort would wait a full year AFTER regulus graduates im ngl. Like I feel like I've already dragged on that plotline to the extreme since everything happened while they were still at Hogwarts, so i do believe that voldemort would try to kill them as soon as possible given the circumstances.

Also i have officially started writing my next fic. It is a Tim Drake/Connor Kent fic where Kon is stuck in a time loop where Tim keeps dying. Its like season three episode eleven of supernatural (iconic) And I will start uploading it after I finish this one
