Regulus met Remus in the library in the morning before he had to head for the train. "I am going to need your help with the last Horcrux. Kreacher refused to tell me too many details, but by the looks of it, the dark lord made him drink something, something that hurt and made him thirsty." Regulus explained the best he could.
"Did Kreacher talk about anything else we should know?" Remus asked.
"It's in a cave with a lake, and he kept mumbling something about fire? That's all I could get out of him. Poor Kreacher was a mess, but he is willing to take us there." Regulus heard someone enter the library, and he got quiet, "It's likely that if my plan goes wrong, we will have to leave in a rush, so be ready for anything. Your house is connected to the flu, right?" Regulus asked.
Remus nodded, "I will be in touch." Regulus whispered, then quickly left before he was seen talking to Remus.
Right before leaving for the train, Regulus was pulled into an empty classroom, immediately being enveloped into a hug, "Hello James," Regulus smiled sadly.
"How about we just stay like this forever?" James whispered, leaning his head on Regulus' shoulder.
"As much as I'd love to, you know we can't," Regulus said, "We have to go before we miss the train."
James frowned, "Stay safe darling." He kissed Regulus on the forehead.
"Call me that again." Regulus whispered, leaning into James's touch.
"What? Darling? I love you so much darling, more than Achilles loved Patroclus, or Orpheus loved Eurydice, or Apollo loved Daphne and Hyacinthus." James kissed the back of Regulus's hand.
"I love you more than Narcissus loved his own reflection." Regulus said.
"I love you more than Eros loves Psyche."
Regulus smiled softly, "I could go on for hours, but I think you win with that one," Regulus kissed James on the cheek, "We really have to go now or we'll miss the train." He reached up and fixed the mess that was James's hair. The two of them went their separate ways and found their respective friend groups.
During the train ride, Regulus tried to push everything good to the back of his mind. He wasn't sure how long he could trick his mother, but he would never hurt James just to make her happy. He would rather go crazy from the cruciartus curse than leave James.
Barty and Evan were sickening as usual, ceaselessly flirting with each other. At some point near the end of the ride, Dorcas and Pandora came to join them.
"Hey losers, I'm going to miss you," Dorcas ruffled Barty's hair as she sat next to him.
"Hey! My hair is a delicate craft and you just ruined it,"Barty whined.
"I'll fix it." Evan offered, parting Barty's hair in the way he knew Barty liked it.
"You two are so disgusting, I'm so glad I get a break from you." Regulus said.
"Aww you know you love us!" Evan smiled, "Dora do you think you can convince father to let Barty come visit?" He leaned toward his sister innocently, batting his eyes as he tried not to giggle.
"I'm sure I could . I'll also ask if Xeno can visit. You still haven't met him." She replied in her usual, far-off tone.
"Well, fortunately, my schedule doesn't really align with the Ravenclaws," Evan said snarkily.
"Fortunately?" Pandora frowned.
"Yup," Evan emphasized the "p" with a pop, "too bad for him I guess, so far he's managed to avoid the older brother lecture from me."
