The rest of the year passes by quickly. Far quicker than James would have liked. He and the other 7th years took their N.E.WT's. Thanks to Regulus, James actually managed to get an E in potions. James managed to pass most of them with flying colors, either getting an O, or an E, which left him open to many job opportunities. He was even offered a spot in Auror training but refused. James mostly just wanted some time off to figure his life out, as well as the war.
Regulus of course got mostly O's as well, and Sirius got mostly E's but a surprising O in care of magical creatures. Peter wasn't as skillful. His lack of studying caught up to him. He got an A in transfiguration, and a P in history of magic.
"I really am rubbish." Peter sighed, comparing his score sheet to James.
"Pete. You did well. There will always be things you are good at and things you aren't. Look you got an E in care of magical creatures and an O in herbology. I got an E in herbology and that's only because of my mom's gardening." James said encouragingly.
"Yeah, I guess." Peter shrugged.
"Hey cheer up. Are you ready for the final quidditch match tomorrow? If we win, Gryffindor wins the cup!" James grinned, wrapping his arm around Peter's shoulders.
"Yeah, good luck." Peter smiled.

The quidditch match went just as expected. Gryffindor was on their best game and won 170-60. The crowd surged with applause and James made sure to make a show of his victory - it was his last after all. He thought about going professional, but maybe after he settles down.
James thought of the best send-off he could make. He scanned the crowds and among the rest of his friends in the Slytherin stands sat Regulus, standing and clapping enthusiastically, beaming up at James.
James dove down to the stands, hearing the commentator question his actions. He landed right in front of Regulus and pulled him in for a kiss.
When he pulled away Regulus tolled his eyes, "congratulations Jamie." He smiled.
James gave him one more kiss on the cheek before flying back to his teammates to celebrate their victory. The team practically carried James back to the common room and began celebrating. Sirius went down go the kitchen and got the house elves to bring food and drinks, and it was the most crowded the common room had been in years. People from every house were there and they stayed well into the night.
The rest of the year went by in a blur. James spent a lot of quality time with Regulus, but Regulus and Sirius also had plenty of alone time and Finally started to act like real siblings did. James was proud of the both of them and all the work they put into it
Before going on the train, James made sure to say all his proper goodbyes, especially to those who weren't graduating, like Barty who had helped him through so many rough spots.
"I'm gonna miss you." James smiled.
"Yeah, I guess I have a soft spot for you. Don't do anything stupid while I'm still stuck here." Barty chuckled
"I could say the same. Don't pretend like me and Reg don't talk. He's worried about you and Ev. Don't do anything I wouldn't." James said.
Barty sighed, "you know it's not that simple."
James put a hand on Barty's shoulder, "you don't have to join your aggressors to keep those you love safe. And you know me and everyone else are going to try our hardest to keep you and everyone else safe. I have my first meeting with the order just a few hours after I get home." James said, "plus if you become a death eater, you'd have to fight us." He added.
