Time seemed to fly by. It wasn't long before Regulus and James were given the keys to their new home. They spent hours warding the place before they even thought of unpacking. Even with all the wards, it was hard to feel as safe as Effie and Fleamont's house. And it was hard for James to think he lived so far away, even though they were just one apparation or floo away.
With the birth of their son approaching nearer and nearer, the fear and worry seemed to skyrocket. They were both paranoid, wondering when and if Voldemort was going to find out and try to take their son away. They needed to lock down their house any way they could, even if that meant keeping everyone out if it came to it. Lily had a plan.
Whenever Voldemort started to pursue them, they needed a way to hide, and they would lock down inside the house, with only one person knowing their location. So they made the hard decision of not letting anyone know where they lived. Not even Lily. Not even Sirius. They would let one person be the 'secret keeper', knowing where they were hiding. Someone they know they can trust.
Turns out, that was harder than it seems. James and Regulus were at odds with who to give the role of secret keeper to.
"I think we should give it to Sirius. He's my best friend. he's going to be our son's godfather." James leaned against a half-empty box.
"I love Sirius, but he is so daft. He would tell people instantly if they pretended it was an emergency. I know you don't want to think of this possibility, but what if the spy is one of our friends? Sirius wouldn't think not to trust them."
"Sirius is capable of keeping a secret." James crossed his arms.
Regulus spelled open another box, emptying it with the wave of his wand, "He can't even keep a secret from you. How about Dorcas?" Regulus suggested. "Or Panda"
"I feel like Pandora could accidentally let the secret loose, with the whole seer thing"
"maybe she already knows" Regulus elbowed James with a laugh.
James sighed, "This is hard. I don't want to give it to anyone in the order. We don't know who we can trust other than our closest friends. Remus, Lily, or Remus would be great,"
Regulus shrugged. "I think we should discuss this with the others. See how they feel about it. Maybe after we unpack?" Regulus kissed James on the forehead.
James leaned into his touch and nodded. "can we make some lunch before we leave? I'm too hungry to have this conversation after unpacking all this."
"Maybe if you didn't insist on doing this the muggle way, we would be done and you wouldn't be so tired and hungry" Regulus laughed and spelled all his books onto a large shelf.
"Well, I think it's more authentic this way. Doing it myself. The muggles have been doing it for centuries without magic. Plus, this is a muggle neighborhood."
"That doesn't mean I'm going to live like them though. I quite like not having to sweep the floors."

By the time Lily was in labor, a decision had not been made.
"It's not like we're in any more of a rush now than before. We don't have to immediately go into hiding just because he's been born." James sighed, leaning against the uncomfortable hospital couch
"James Fleamont Potter. If you are not going to shut up, then get out please" Lily sneered.
"I have to be here for the birth of my son!" James argued.
"Then talk about literally anything else. Please." She groaned, "Darling could you hand me my water?" She asked Mary, who was in an armchair next to the hospital bed.
