Sirius curled up on his cot in Azkaban. He was being held there until his trial. He was dangerous. He figured out that the dementors affected him less in his dog form, so he spent most of his time as a dog. He did it not just to evade the dementors though, but also as a way to escape his anger. His anger at Peter, his grief from losing James and Regulus, and his longing for Remus.

Remus had a full life ahead of him. He was so smart, and if all else failed in the wizarding world, he had the muggle world to fall back on. Sirius had his second chance, and his third chance, and he blew it. He was saved by James, the trajectory of his life changed by one small group of people, and even though he had pureblood perceptions, and was a horrible person, Monty and Effie still took him in.

And then Sirius broke Remus's heart for no other reason than his own pitiful guilt of his existence. Sirius didn't deserve Remus or his kindness. Remus deserved way better than Sirius, that much was clear.

For his entire time in Hogwarts, Sirius tried to fit in with his friends, with the other Gryffindors. He overcompensated for his guilt and tried his best to hide his upbringing, but in the end, it was his nature as a Black to betray those who were good. Over and over again he proved to Remus that he wasn't to be trusted, and every time, he manipulated Remus to forgive him. The prank 5th year, or calling werewolves dangerous. Over and over again he proved that he was better off staying with his family. Regulus was always the one meant to leave.

And worst of all, Sirius felt no remorse for what he did. Or tried to do. he knew Peter was still alive. Sirius wasn't a murderer yet, but he would get his revenge on that vermin if it took lifetimes. Maybe it was his mother's personality coming out in him, and maybe for once Sirius let it take over. He was angry. He was allowed to be angry. His best friend was gone, his baby brother was gone.

He heard footsteps approaching his cell, and he turned back into his human self. He couldn't have them finding out he was also an unregistered animagus. This was already going to be hard enough as it was.

"Sirius my boy." It was Dumbledore. Of course it was, "It's time for your trial."

"Don't call me that." Sirius spat, but followed the older man reluctantly.

James and Regulus were being held in St. Mungo's. There was no way they should have survived being hit with the killing curse, but there was also no way Harry should have lived, and he was in much better condition than his parents.

Lily sat in the waiting room with Harry, waiting for the doctors to say anything. The others all went to Remus's trial, and she offered to stay behind to watch her son. And to hope that maybe James and Regulus could have survived in the same way their son did.

"We have reason to believe that you Murdered James Potter and Regulus Black, as well as Peter Pettigrew and countless muggles in the past twenty-four hours. Is that true?" Sirius sat in an interrogation room, countless Aurors had interrogated him at this point, but Sirius was hysterical.

"It was Voldemort." Sirius said, and the crowd gasped in fear at the mention of his name."I would never hurt James or my brother."

"You didn't mention Mr. Pettigrew. Does this mean you did mean to harm him?" The wizard questioning him asked.

"I did intend to hurt him. But I didn't. I know he's still alive."

"His finger was found at the crime scene You blew him up along with countless muggles. You do realize the countless amount of muggles we have had to obliviate."

"Peter was the one who did that. He tricked me. You have to believe me!" Sirius said desperately, knowing that nobody important believed him. He looked around the room and grimaced. James's parents were there, alongside Remus, Even Barty and Evan, Pandora, Mary, Marlene, Dorcas, Dumbledore, McGonagall, Hagrid, and worst of all, his family. Walburga was there, as well as Bellatrix, Lucius, and Narcissa, holding a blonde baby.

"so. you claim that... he who shall not be named, killed Mr. Potter and Mr. black, leaving Potter's infant son alive, and that Pettigrew was the one to reveal their location to... him." the wizard spoke slowly, dodging the dark lord's name.

Sirius nodded, "Yes sir.  Peter Pettigrew was the only person who knew their location. I believe he is a spy for Voldemort and-" At hearing another gasp from the crowd, Sirius lost it, "Oh shut it. He is dead. His bloody name can't hurt us anymore. Like I said. He was a spy for Voldemort and revealed his location to Voldemort, who wanted to make sure a prophecy was carried out in his favor."

"And you want to have us believe not only that a baby survived the killing curse, but managed to kill... Voldemort... himself?"

Sirius groaned, "I don't know. I wasn't there! Is it not the Auror's job to find out?"

Sirius was overwhelmed as they questioned him relentlessly, clearly not believing him. They thought he went crazy and killed three of the closest people to him.

"Ms. Evans?" A doctor came out into the waiting room. Lily almost jumped up, but was wary of the sleeping infant in her arms.

"Is everything okay?" Lily asked.

"Are you aware if either of them had any wills written?"

A few people were called to speak at the trial. Fleamont defended Sirius and confirmed that Peter was the only one who knew James's whereabouts. Not even his own parents did.

Walburga spoke as well, contradicting herself in every other sentence. Crying about how Sirius killed her baby, but begging him to come home, to carry on the family lineage.

In the end, Sirius was accused of the murders of James Potter, Regulus Back, and Peter Pettigrew. Voldemort was never mentioned.

The doors burst open, intruders stormed right past the aurors posted at the entrance. The two men stomped right into the middle of the room where Sirius was chained up.

"He's innocent!" Regulus shouted, "Sirius Black is innocent and I have proof." he held up a rat by the tail.

The crowd was a chaos of murmurs and mutters all around, "Order in the Court!" The minister shouted, "Who are you? State your business or leave." Aurors surrounded Regulus and James, who broke multiple laws breaking into the ministry.

"My name is Regulus Black, and this is my Fiance, James Potter. And this-" he held the rat up higher, "Is Peter Pettigrew. An unregistered Animagus, who framed my brother for murder." He threw the rat onto the floor, who transformed back into a man, still chittering his teeth pathetically.

"That's not true!" Peter shouted. The aurors pointed their wands at him though, and he shrank down.

"Mr. black. I was informed that the killing curse was used on the both of you. How then, would you be alive?"

"I have no idea. " Regulus shrugged. "Voldemort attacked us. Our son Harry was involved in a prophecy, where if one lives, the other must die. In order to survive, Voldemort set off to find this child and kill him. In the process, he used the killing curse on all three of us, but when he hit Harry, the spell rebounded and killed Voldemort. I have no idea how James and I survived, but us being alive can attest to Sirius's innocence."

"Well, I suppose so." The minister muttered.

The rest of the trial was interesting. Nobody knew how James and Regulus survived, but they did, and in the end, Peter was arrested for the crimes he had committed, and the world rejoiced that Voldemort was dead

WOAH

guys this chapter kinda sucks :( but whatever. I'm trying to write as much as I can before my semester gets super busy (I say having not written a single chapter in forever) I'm running out of drafts

anyway I listened to this song like a billion times on loop crying while writing the beginning of this chapter, and now that I'm re-reading it, at least to me, it does not hit the same (please let me know cause I have no concept of how others perceive the emotions I try to portray in my writing)

anyway, my hyperfixations are ruining my life. I cant shut up about stupid fucking sonic the hedgehog (I LOVE HIM) and DC (WHAT THE FART) AND EPIC THE MUSICAL HOLY SHIT don't even get me started. I'm not gonna lie if Sirius would have actually killed peter and gone crazy, the song Odysseus would have gone SO HARD as a title

Anyway, as always, I hope you guys enjoyed
