89. Hello Black Dog

When Sirius stepped out of the court room, shackles finally removed from his wrists, still in his disheveled prison uniform with unkept hair and bags under his eyes, Remus almost tackled him.

"I thought I'd never see you again. I - I thought you'd get arrested before James and Regulus came in" Remus laughed in disbelief, staring into Sirius's eyes, which Remus thought he'd never get to gaze into again. "I love you so much, Sirius. I know you don't want to see me, but-"

Sirius held back a sob and surged forward into a kiss, It was messy and frantic, hands grabbing at whatever they found. Right in the hallway of the Ministry of Magic. 

Remus pulled away with a laugh, "Does this mean we can fix things?" 

"I'm so sorry Remus. I truly hate myself for everything. It's over now. It's really over." Sirius buried his face in Remus's chest. "let's go home."

Remus grinned and they joined the others, where they were surrounding James and Remus. Sirius pushed through the crowd of his friends, almost having to fight Barty and Evan to get to his brother. "Reggie you were dead. I saw your body." He placed his hands on both of Regulus's cheeks, who frowned and tried to push him away. 

"I... I did. I died, and I saw a lot of things while I was there. But then I woke up again. I saw Alphard. He showed me... Well, he showed me a lot, but he showed me what would have happened without me. Without all the efforts we put into the war while still at Hogwarts. Then he told me it wasn't my time and I woke up. I'm still in disbelief." 

"You look so exhausted. You and James can tell us all about it after you get some sleep. Let's get you home and we can talk tomorrow. It's late." Sirius wrapped an arm around him, "You guys hear that? No more overwhelming the poor couple. I know more than anyone how glad we are for them to be alive, but let's let them rest." Sirius apparated the two home. 

"Wait what about Harry?" James protested once they were in the living room. 

"Lily can handle him for one night. You guys get some rest. Tomorrow I will help clean this place up. Harry's room is in need of some major repairs." 

James nodded and the two headed to their bedroom. "Thank you Sirius" Regulus said, and Sirius nodded before apparating to Monty and Effie's house where everyone was now waiting. Or everyone being Monty, Effie, Lily, and most importantly, Remus.

"Sorry everyone I've got important shit to do" Sirius grabbed Remus by the wrist and pulled him into his room. 

"I'm sorry moony. Can you ever forgive me?" He asked, running his hands over Remus's shoulders.

"I shouldn't. You know how toxic we've been for each other" Remus replied in between kisses to his throat

Sirius laughed and kissed Remus, "You're not toxic moony, that's all me" He pushed away, looking Remus in the eyes "I don't deserve you. I... I keep telling you I'll change and I don't, why do you stay?"

Remus placed his hand on the side of Sirius's face, "I know you're capable of change darling, and I'll be here to support you through everything no matter how hard it gets." 

Tears rolled down Sirius's face, "I think I've dealt with enough emotions for one day. Let's go to bed. I have a long day of harassing James and Regulus tomorrow. Oh by the way we're going to help fix up their house so they don't get all sad and depressed. Harry needs a place to sleep." 

"I love you." Remus kissed him again

"Is this real?" James whispered. It was the middle of the night, but he couldn't sleep. Not after everything that had just happened. Did he really die? How would he be alive? Was it all just a bad dream?
