(Bungo Stray Dogs)-Akiko Yosano: Cheap Furniture

I had just arrived at my tiny apartment, I tossed my keys on my kitchen counter drank the last bit of my juice in my fridge and threw away the carton when I heard a knock on my door. I gripped the handle of my revolver then walked towards the window to check who it was. Akiko Yosano had come to visit me, we've known each other since her early days in the armed detective agency, we did a few jobs together. At the moment I suppose you could say we were dating but we never made it official so it was hard to tell.

Akiko: "It's me, let me in dipshit."

I unlatched my door and opened it.

Y/N: "You know it wouldn't hurt to be a little more nice to me, what you got there?"

She lifted the packet in her hands.

Akiko: "Knowing you, you won't cook for yourself and get more junk food, so I came to cook something healthy for you."

Y/N: "Awww look at that you do care."

Akiko: "Just shut up and let me in."

Y/N: "Yes ma'am."

I let her in, she went straight to the kitchen and started to cook while I plopped down on my sofa to take a breather. She quickly took a break to place two beers on my cheap centrepiece table.

Akiko: "Don't drink the other one, it's mine. And by the way, why are you always buying this cheap furniture, I know you are not that poor."

Y/N: "That's because my furniture always ends up broken."

Akiko: "What do you mean?"

Y/N: "I'll explain later, don't have the energy now."

She moved back to the kitchen and carried on preparing food.

Y/N: "Really you should just order something, never really took you for the cooking type."

Akiko: "Well you'd be surprised, now just shut up and let me cook. So how's that little girl you found."

Y/N: "Last I checked still a little traumatized from the incident, but she calmed down as soon as she was reunited with her parents."

Akiko: "You said it was a human trafficking ring."

Y/N: "Yeah a big one at that, had to get the local police involved, lucky I found the girl before she was shipped off, who knows what would have happened if I didn't get to her in time."

Akiko: "That's good, no doubt you charged the parents a discount, you've always had a soft spot for families."

I just shrugged my shoulders, though I doubt she saw.

Y/N: "They've been through enough, didn't want to take more from them, besides even with the discount the payment was good, will keep me up for another 3 months without work."

Akiko: "And the local gangs, what's happening there?"

Y/N: "Just being a nuisance nothing major. Think they're a bunch of badasses but I can handle them."

Akiko: "Food's ready, come grab some."

She had just dished up some on a plate next to the stove, I got up and moved to the counter when I heard something by the door. I looked at her and saw her frowning, she wiped her hands on a dish cloth then walked closer to me I realised just in time what was happening and pushed her to the floor as the door swung wide open a hulk of a man came running in tackling me right on top of my centre piece table smashing it to pieces, he knocked the wind right out of me. Just as Akiko stood up another guy walked in dashing around the counter grabbing her and pining her down.

Akaiko: "Urg you son of a bitch."

Blondie: "Well Y/N I didn't expect you to have company, a pretty one too."

Akiko: "Screw you jackass."

Blondie: "Whoa ho! Fighsty too. Anyway, we heard you bagged in some cash, and thought we'd come grab a share. So where is it?"

Y/N: "I'm surprised Blondie, you actually got someone capable for once."

Blondie indicated to the big guy to keep me from talking, so the brute did the only thing he was capable of thinking, he started to choke me.

Blondie: "Still calling me that, and here I thought you would start using my name by now. But enough with the banter, just tell us where the money is and we will be on our way."

Akiko: "Screw that."

He pushed her down a bit.

Blondie: "Hush little miss, the men are talking."

Her face went from anger to pissed off, oh she did not like that comment, but I agreed screw that shit. Luckily I always kept a pen near me, I reached out for the one next to me out of desperation this guy was close to killing me. I gripped the pen and was able to utter some words.

Y/N: Sp... Special ability...Ink smoke."

The moment I said that a dark smoke puffed out from my hand covering the big guy's face, he shot back rubbing his eyes unable to see. Blondie was so shocked that he loosened his grip, it gave Akiko a chance to fight back in the kitchen. I rolled into my knees cofing trying to catch my breath. once I got some of my composure I gripped a piece of my broken furniture and swung it upwards really hard smacking the Brute on the chin breaking the wood, usually a smack like that to the chin would knock a guy out but not this one, so I grabbed another piece and threw it right between his eyes, once again something to knock him out but nooooo all he did was stagger. While that was happening, Akiko was able to get the advantage of the fight grabbing the pan she used she knocked out Blondie. I then rushed towards the big guy, she tossed me the pan and with full force I swung it against his face finally knocking him out. We took a few seconds to catch our breaths, I looked over to what was once my table.

Y/N: "Oh man this is the third time this month, you see this is why I buy the cheap shit."

Akiko: "Third time? How often does this happen?"

Y/N: "Too often."

Akiko: "I think it's about time you moved."

Y/N: "Agreed."

Akiko: "What do we do about them?"

Y/N: "Let's take out the trash."

We struggled a bit, especially with the big dude but we managed to get them outside and tossed them in the big dumpster.

Y/N: "There, cleaning up the streets, let's go eat I'm starving."

When we got back we ate at the kitchen counter after we sat on the couch and turned on the TV to watch something, we ended up on some movie. She leaned against me with her head on my shoulder I wrapped my arm around her my hand on top of hers our fingers interlocked, her other hand was on my leg.

Y/N: "It's nice to just relax with you."

Akiko: "It is."

Y/N: "I was thinking."

Akiko: "Mmmmm"

Y/N: "Well we haven't really talked about it buuut I was wondering, I can officially call you my girlfriend right?"

Akiko: "Yeah I don't see why not."

Y/N: "Awesome, I have a girlfriend."

Akiko: "And I have a boyfriend."

Y/N: "Cool."

Akiko: "Cool."
