Donghyuck and Haeeun arrived at the house, with Jaemin already waiting for them outside. The brunette had called his boyfriend while they were on the way, genuinely sorry for waking the younger at such ungodly hours.

Together, they sneaked into the house like potential robbers. Their steps were light as feathers, scared that Donghyuck's family would see them. Actually, it's perfectly fine if it was just them both, but they brought Haeeun in, who, may I add, has her heart beating loudly and nervously.

The sly activity was successful when they entered Donghyuck's room. There, they stood awkwardly in a circle, and they didn't know who or where to look. Jaemin still has his eyes half-closed from sleepiness, but his sense of smell has never failed.

He knows that the two smoked and drank; that's why his resting face actually looks like a glare piercing the two.

Donghyuck cleared his throat, then began breaking the deafening silence.

"I saw Haeeun outside the store," he started.

"I know what you did," Jaemin said, intently staring at the two.

"I'm sorry. I know I promised, and you hate broken promises. Believe me," Donghyuck defended.

Jaemin just tutted and looked at the girl. "You. Why did you come in at this late hour again?"

Both Donghyuck and Haeeun accidentally shared a look, though they didn't look away and rather sent signals to each other.

"Hey, it's cute to see you two forming an alliance, but I'm fucking tired," Jaemin said. Donghyuck momentarily forgot that his boyfriend gets cranky when you disturb his sleep.

"I'm sorry, Jaemin." Haeeun spoke before the brunette could. "It wasn't Donghyuck's fault. I'm the one who offered him."

"Yeah, we're done with that topic. I can't make you two throw up all the liquor and exhale all the smoke you both took in, hm?" Jaemin replied. "What I'm asking is, what made you come here so late again?"

Again, Donghyuck and Haeeun shared a look.

Jaemin sighed, hugging himself with his jacket, and walked towards the door.

"Alright, I'm leaving."

"Wait!" Both Donghyuck and Haeeun chorused, while the male held the younger's wrist to stop him.

Haeeun then told him what happened, and it was just a matter of seconds when Jaemin launched himself at the girl, tightly embracing her.

"You should've said that first," Jaemin mumbled against her shoulder. "My deepest condolences, Haeeun-ah. It must be hard for you to go through this alone."

Alone. Haeeun's eyes shut as she felt the word stab through her heart. She didn't know that the word still struck her big time. She thought she'd already gotten used to being alone.

The three were sitting on Donghyuck's veranda until midnight struck. September 25 passed, and Haeeun welcomed the new day again like she did in the previous years.
