The crisp autumn air was a welcome change from the oppressive heat of yesterday, but Haeeun barely noticed it. The leaves had turned vibrant shades of orange and red, yet she walked through them with a heaviness that seemed to cling to her like the morning mist.

At school, her usual cheerfulness had dimmed. She moved through her classes like a ghost, her once bright eyes now clouded with distraction. Donghyuck and Jaemin, ever observant, couldn't help but notice the shift. They exchanged worried glances but decided to hold back, giving her space yet remaining close.

On Monday morning, as they gathered in the school courtyard, the tension was palpable.

"Hey, baby, you coming to the café with us after school?" Donghyuck asked, his tone light but filled with concern.

Haeeun looked up, startled from her thoughts. "Oh, um, yeah. I guess so."

Jaemin, who had been quietly watching from the sidelines, stepped in. "You seem a bit off today. Everything alright?"

Haeeun forced a smile, but it didn't reach her eyes. "Yeah, I'm fine. Just a lot on my mind."

Donghyuck and Jaemin exchanged another worried glance but didn't push further. They knew better than to pry when she wasn't ready to talk.

After school, they walked to the café, a favorite hangout spot where they usually laughed and joked. But today, the atmosphere was subdued. Donghyuck and Jaemin tried their best to keep the conversation light, sharing amusing stories, but Haeeun's responses were flat, her mind clearly elsewhere.

Once they were seated with their drinks, Donghyuck decided to break the silence. "So, did anything exciting happen over the weekend? You went to that big meeting with your mom, right?"

Haeeun's shoulders tensed slightly. "Yeah, it was...something."

Jaemin leaned in, his expression soft and encouraging. "You don't have to talk about it if you don't want to, but just know we're here for you."

Haeeun stared into her coffee, the steam swirling up in front of her face as if it could hide her feelings. "It's just...my mom's been pushing me to make these decisions that I'm not ready"

Donghyuck's brow furrowed. "And?"

"And I hate it"

Jaemin reached out and put a comforting hand on her arm. "It sounds like a lot to handle. Do you want to talk more about it?"

Donghyuck agreeably nodded. "It's tough when people close to us don't seem to see things from our perspective. But you don't have to face this alone."

Haeeun's eyes filled with tears. "I know. It's just...I feel like I'm losing myself in all of this."

Jaemin gave her a reassuring squeeze. "We're here for you, Haeeun. Whatever happens, we'll figure it out together. You don't have to go through this by yourself."

Donghyuck offered a warm smile. "And if you ever need to escape, just say the word. We can take a drive, go to the beach, or just hang out. Anything to help you clear your mind."

Haeeun managed a small, grateful smile. "Thanks, guys. It really means a lot to me."

The three sat together in a comfortable silence, each lost in their thoughts but united in their support. As the sun dipped lower in the sky, casting a golden hue over the café, Haeeun felt a flicker of hope. Maybe, just maybe, with Donghyuck and Jaemin by her side, she could find her way through the shadows and rediscover the sunshine that had once been so bright in her life.
