As September slipped away, October rolled in, bringing with it a crispness that hinted at the beauty of fall. The leaves began to change, painting the streets in shades of orange and gold, a backdrop that made Haeeun's heart flutter with anticipation. October held a special significance for her, not just because it was the month of her birthday, but also because it marked the anniversary of her unconventional relationship with Donghyuck and Jaemin.

They had survived the whirlwind of their first year together, and the thought of celebrating both her birthday and their bond made her feel warm inside. The trio had already begun brainstorming ideas for a cozy celebration, filled with laughter and their favorite foods.

But just as the excitement bubbled over, her phone buzzed one evening, interrupting their light-hearted banter. Haeeun glanced at the screen, her heart sinking a little as she recognized the name.

"Sunha," she muttered, her voice laced with reluctance.

Donghyuck raised an eyebrow. "Is that your mom?"

"Yeah, she's calling," Haeeun replied, hesitating before answering. "I wonder what she wants this time."

To her surprise, Sunha's voice came through with an unexpected warmth. "Haeeun, dear! I wanted to invite you to a birthday dinner. Just the two of us. I know we haven't spoken much lately, but I think it would be nice."

Haeeun exchanged glances with Donghyuck and Jaemin, both of whom nodded encouragingly. They understood the importance of this invitation, seeing it as an opportunity for Haeeun to talk to her mother without the weight of expectations hanging over them.

"It's okay to go," Jaemin said gently. "Maybe you can clear the air a bit."

Haeeun sighed, reluctantly agreeing. "Alright, I'll go. Just for dinner."

As October 9th approached, Haeeun felt a mix of excitement and dread. They had planned a surprise celebration for her birthday and their anniversary, but now she would have to juggle that with her dinner with Sunha.

When the day finally came, she woke to the scent of her favorite breakfast wafting through the apartment. Donghyuck and Jaemin had outdone themselves, surprising her with pancakes and fruit.

"Happy birthday!" they chimed, their faces bright with joy.

Haeeun couldn't help but smile, her heart swelling at their effort. "Thank you! This is amazing!"

As the day unfolded, they spent the morning basking in the warmth of their connection, sharing stories and laughter. Yet, as evening approached, Haeeun's nerves began to creep back in.

When the time came for her to leave for the dinner with Sunha, Donghyuck and Jaemin insisted on driving her.

"We'll wait for you back at the unit," Donghyuck assured her as they pulled up to the restaurant.

Haeeun stepped inside, her heart racing. The dimly lit ambiance was both inviting and intimidating. But nothing prepared her for the sight of Doyoung sitting at the table, a charming smile on his face as he waved at her mother.

"Surprise!" Sunha exclaimed, gesturing for Haeeun to join them.
