The calendar landed on October 8, one day before Haeeun's birthday. She went to school in the usual way, not having an ounce of care around her, and just went straight to her building.
To her surprise, she saw Donghyuck and Jaemin standing on a corner. She couldn't directly ignore them, nor did she want to, so she approached them naturally. The couple immediately faced her with a warm smile.
"What are you guys doing here?" Haeeun asks.
"Waiting for you," Jaemin answered like it's obvious.
Somehow, she and Donghyuck exchanged gazes. Haeeun got a feeling that she knew what the blonde was about to say next.
"Okay? Why?"
"Hyuck and I talked about this on the previous days. We want to be there with you at midnight."
So, I'm right. Haeeun timidly nodded. She's thankful that Donghyuck briefed her about this before too; at least she knows how to react or what to say. She had time to think about it, too.
"I've been thinking about that for quite some time too," Haeeun replied. "I guess it's fine."
"Really?" Jaemin lightly gasped and looked at his boyfriend with a wide smile. "I can't believe it!"
"Well, it happened." Donghyuck chuckled and looked at Haeeun with a grateful smile. "Thanks, I guess?"
"Yeah, I considered that it might be a big day for the three of us, especially for the both of you."
"Haeeun-ah," Jaemin said, stepping closer to her and patting her shoulder. "Remember what I said? It doesn't matter if our strings end up losing. We'll still be your friends."
"I thought we were thinking positively here."
"So, you think we're really soulmates!?" Jaemin shrieked, and Haeeun was fast to cover his mouth.
"Lower your voice."
Jaemin smirked and yanked her hand away. "If your string knots with us, then that's better. Perfect, even. I'm going to manifest it."
"Okay." Haeeun nervously chuckled and looked at the two. "I think you should go to your classes now. I will go to mine too before I'm late."
"Okay! See you later, okay?"
"Okay," Haeeun also looked at Donghyuck, whom she immediately met eyes with. His face was unreadable, so Haeeun had second thoughts about this whole soulmate thing again.
She flickered her gaze at the two and smiled dismissively before walking into the building. Entering her classroom, she immediately went to her seat, where Minjeong was already beside hers.
Her thoughts bugged her a lot, so she placed a hand on her cousin's desk to gain her attention and lightly surprised her.
"What? You shocked me." Minjeong flinched.
"I need your opinion."
"Yeah, you should've just talked." Minjeong dropped her phone and attentively looked at her. "So, what was it about?"
