The aroma of freshly brewed coffee filled the air as Donghyuck and Jaemin settled into a corner of the study café. Sunlight streamed through the large windows, casting a warm glow on their anxious faces. They had agreed to meet Haeeun here, hoping the neutral setting would ease the heaviness of the conversation ahead.
"Do you think she'll be okay?" Jaemin asked, fidgeting with his phone.
Donghyuck shrugged, his brow furrowed. "I just hope she's ready to talk. We need to know what she's planning."
Moments later, Haeeun walked in, looking slightly disheveled but determined. Her eyes scanned the café until they landed on them, and a small smile broke through her anxious demeanor. She approached their table, pulling out a chair.
"Hey," she said, her voice steady but soft.
"Hey," they replied in unison.
After ordering their drinks, the trio settled into an uneasy silence, the air thick with unspoken words. Haeeun took a deep breath, clearly gathering her thoughts.
"Thanks for coming," she finally said, looking directly at Donghyuck and Jaemin. "I know you're worried about me."
"Of course we are," Jaemin said, leaning forward. "You can't just run away like that and expect us to sit back."
Haeeun's gaze hardened slightly. "I didn't run away just for fun. I needed to escape."
"Escape from what?" Donghyuck pressed, concern etching his features. "Your mom?"
"Exactly," she replied, her voice rising a bit. "I can't be there anymore. I'm losing myself even more."
Jaemin nodded, trying to maintain a calm tone. "But you can't just cut ties completely."
"Well, she's also adamant in telling me not to go back there," Haeeun countered, frustration bubbling beneath the surface. "I'm staying with the Kims for now."
Jaemin took a breath, trying to keep the conversation grounded. "Any chance that you'll talk to her again?"
Haeeun shook her head vehemently. "No, and I don't plan to. I've been looking at some apartments, and I want to start fresh. I don't want to go back."
Donghyuck exchanged a worried glance with Jaemin. "Are you sure about this? Living alone is a big step."
"I am," she said firmly, her gaze unwavering. "I've even gotten to know Yura and Louise better. They've been supportive, and I feel like I can finally be myself."
Jaemin's voice softened. "But are you ready for all the responsibilities that come with living alone? It's not easy."
"I know it won't be easy," Haeeun replied, a hint of determination in her voice. "But I'd rather face that than keep pretending everything's fine back home. I need to stand up for myself."
Donghyuck reached out, placing a hand on hers. "We're here for you, whatever you decide. But you don't have to do this alone. You can lean on us."
A small smile crept onto Haeeun's face. "Really? You guys won't give up on me?"
"Never," Jaemin affirmed. "We'll help you through this."
Donghyuck's eyes lit up with an idea. "What if... we all lived together? It could be like our little family, and you wouldn't have to face everything alone."
