The atmosphere in Sunha's office was tense as she paced the room, a folder clutched tightly in her hand. The sleek, modern office, usually a place of calm and efficiency, now felt cold and oppressive. Haeeun, summoned urgently, arrived at the office, her expression a mix of apprehension and confusion.

Sunha's eyes were steely as she saw her daughter enter. "Sit down, Haeeun."

Haeeun hesitated but complied, taking a seat across from her mother. Sunha slammed the folder down on the polished desk, sending a shiver through Haeeun. The papers inside were neatly stacked, each one filled with details that made Haeeun's stomach churn.

"What's this about?" Haeeun asked, trying to keep her voice steady.

Sunha's tone was sharp. "I've been doing some research. It seems you've been a bit... selective in who you let into your life." She opened the folder, revealing detailed background checks on Donghyuck and Jaemin. "Let's start with Donghyuck. His family is average at best—no notable achievements, just your typical middle-class background. He's depending on scholarships to get through school. His parents work in common public jobs, and their house is nothing special."

Haeeun's face flushed with anger. "And what's wrong with that? They're good people. They work hard and care about me. What's your point?"

Sunha's expression remained unmoved. "My point is that these boys are not up to our standards. They lack ambition, and their families don't have the kind of influence or success that we expect. They're not suitable for you, Haeeun."

Haeeun's eyes narrowed. "What does any of that have to do with how much they care about me? You're just obsessed with status and appearances!"

Sunha flipped to the next set of papers, continuing. "And then there's Jaemin. Similar story. Average family, depending on scholarships, common public jobs, an ordinary house. They don't bring anything of value to the table."

Haeeun's hands clenched into fists. "So, you think their backgrounds make them unworthy of being with me? They love me, they support me, and they make me happy! How can you dismiss that just because they don't fit your idea of 'success'?"

Sunha's tone hardened. "Soulmates are a nice idea, but they're not the only thing that matters in life. You need someone who can provide stability, status, and support for your future. These boys can't offer that."

Haeeun's eyes filled with hot tears, her anger boiling over. She grabbed the papers and, with a cry of frustration, tore them into shreds. The pieces fluttered down like confetti, landing on Sunha's chest.

"How dare you! How dare you judge them like this!" Haeeun shouted, her voice cracking with emotion. "They've done nothing wrong, and yet you're tearing them apart just because they don't meet your ridiculous standards. I hate you more for this!"

Sunha, unfazed by her daughter's outburst, remained cold and detached. "Your tantrums won't change anything. I've already arranged for you to meet Doyoung this weekend. He's a perfect match for you in every way."

Haeeun's face contorted with a mix of rage and disbelief. "Doyoung? You think you can just force me into a relationship with someone I don't want? Soulmates aren't important? What a load of nonsense! I won't do it."

Sunha's voice was icy. "You don't have a choice. Doyoung is a suitable match, and it's time you accepted that. You can function perfectly well without those boys. You're making a mistake by prioritizing them over your future."
