The weekend arrived with a mixture of anticipation and trepidation for Haeeun. After their emotional car ride and heartfelt conversations, Donghyuck and Jaemin were ready to meet her mother. Haeeun had gathered her courage to tell her dad about the introduction. She felt a flicker of hope that this meeting might ease some of the tension and provide a bit of normalcy amidst the chaos.

On Saturday morning, Haeeun, Donghyuck, and Jaemin arrived at her family's house, a place that still held a sense of familiarity despite the recent upheavals. Haeeun's heart raced as they approached the front door, her hand gripping the doorknob tightly.

Gyeol greeted them with his usual warm smile, his presence a comforting anchor in the storm of Haeeun's life.

"Ah, Haeeun! You've brought your soulmates. I'm glad to see you all again."

Haeeun managed a nervous smile, introducing Donghyuck and Jaemin. "Hi. Well, you already met the boys."

Donghyuck extended his hand first, offering a friendly handshake. "It was nice seeing you again, sir."

Gyeol shook his hand warmly, his eyes twinkling with approval. "Pleasure's all mine, son," he said, turning to the other boy. "Jaemin. Still got the puppy eyes as ever."

Jaemin grinned and shook hands with Gyeol. "Yes, sir. It's nice to know I charmed you with it."

Just then, Sunha appeared in the hallway, her demeanor polished and welcoming. She forced a bright smile, though Haeeun could sense the tension beneath her surface.

"Welcome, boys. I'm Sunha, Haeeun's mother."

Donghyuck and Jaemin greeted her politely, exchanging pleasantries.

"Thank you for having us," Donghyuck said, trying to keep the atmosphere light.

Sunha gestured for them to follow her into the living room. "Please, make yourselves comfortable. I've prepared some snacks and tea."

As they settled in, Haeeun noticed Sunha's strained effort to appear welcoming. It wasn't lost on her that this was as much a performance as a genuine effort. She was grateful for Sunha's attempt, even if it felt a bit forced.

Gyeol joined them with a tray of snacks, and the conversation soon turned to lighter topics. "So, finally, we're all here."

Jaemin shyly nodded. "We thank Haeeun for letting us meet you."

Sunha, trying to join the conversation naturally, piped up. "I'm sure you've heard many stories. Haeeun tends to exaggerate a bit."

Haeeun gave her mother a pointed look but decided to let it go. "Oh, please. Let's just enjoy the day"

Gyeol, sensing the undercurrent of tension, decided to steer the conversation in a more relaxed direction. "Tell me, boys, what are your plans for the future?"

Donghyuck took a sip of his tea, his expression thoughtful. "I'm currently in pre-law, so I'm naturally aiming to become a lawyer."

Jaemin added, "I'm in pre-med. I'm still not sure whether to become a surgeon or focus more on pediatrics, but I'd love to stay in the medical field."

Sunha seemed to relax slightly, nodding as she listened. "Well, it's good to have goals. I'm sure you both will do well."
