Can I just say being nagged to update a book is the most annoying thing I've ever faced while being a writer on here?
Like, that's the thing about this serial format of writing: it's updated when the author wants to update, not the reader. I just got a comment on one of my old books from my original account (a book that I haven't attempted to update in months because I hate it) and it was like "please update already" or something like that.
Um...
Please don't say that.
Just don't.
I update when I can and when I want to. With that particular book, I haven't written it in months because it's the sequel to my first ever fanfic, which I cringe at when I reread it...therefore I haven't read it in months as well.
I struggle with updating most of my books because I have ideas flowing out of my like a goddamn waterfall. I start writing one thing, then I'm like "oh, this would be a cool cover, I'll build an idea off of that!" then start another book.The only series of books I've been able to keep up writing without a problem is my Superhero series. Don't ask me how, I honestly don't have a clue as to why I'm so into writing that. I think it's just because I have so many individual ideas for it and I know what I want to happen and there are less gaps to fill than my other books. I struggle a lot with continuing things, except for that series.
I think my overall point is this: if someone doesn't update a book for a while, don't comment on the book telling them to update. Maybe message them and ask if they're okay and how they think that particular book is doing. You never know, they could just be taking a temporary hiatus. Maybe they hate the book and they're just keeping it up for other people's enjoyment. Maybe something bad happened to them and they need to take a break from writing. Don't assume it's an easy-to-fix problem. If you're a writer, you know how difficult it can be to come up with ideas sometimes. Filling in those gaps can take forever.

P.S. I've only got 4 total people (including me) who said they want to do the Q and A thing...I need the ranters and readers to confirm!
