Hey guys, it's Cat.
So...I'm absolutely terrified.
I don't think I've ever told you guys this, but I've had problems with my teeth since I was really little. I'm currently on my second round of braces (I've had this set for nearly 2 years now) and I've had to get a bunch of teeth pulled since I was about seven.
I was at the orthodontist today, and we found out that my 12-year-old molars STILL haven't come in fully.
They're over 2 and a half years late.
I wouldn't be all that concerned about this if my orthodontist hadn't mentioned the fact that I may need to get oral surgery in order to speed up the process of their coming in.
This basically means cutting my gums open and attaching chains to the teeth to pull them out of my gums faster.
And he also mentioned that, while we're at it, I should get my wisdom teeth pulled out, too.
I AM FOURTEEN YEARS OLD OKAY
You have no idea how terrified I am of that. I've never had surgery of any sort, and I might have to get my wisdom teeth removed? They haven't even started to come in yet!
The worst part, though, is that until my molars grow in, either naturally or through the help of the surgery, I can't get my braces off.
I want to be done so badly, but I'm utterly terrified of the idea of surgery in this particular way. I don't want people touching my mouth that much. It scares me.
I could make the decision to wait it out and see if the molars grow in within the next six months to even a year, but at the same time I just want to get it over with.
I'm really scared, and I legitimately don't know what to do.
Please help.
