So I had rehearsal for West Side Story today.
It was dedicated to learning choreography.
Now, let me tell you: I HATE DANCING
I took 8 years of dance lessons, and it was terrible.
I don't have the body type or flexibility or grace to be a dancer, plus I struggle to even clap my hands in time with music while I'm singing sometimes, so you can see my dilemma.
We were practicing the "Dance At The Gym" today and I kept telling my dancing partner (another girl who has to play a guy to be my partner who has the same opinion on dancing as I do) that I just wanted to be the girl crying by the punch bowl at the dance because she couldn't snag a date.
THEY EVEN SAID NOT EVERYONE WOULD HAVE TO DO THE DANCE BUT EVERYONE HAD TO LEARN IT WHETHER YOU'RE A DANCER OR NOT
????
Can't I just sit awkwardly in the corner like I do at every other dance I've been to?
I seriously felt like I was going to pass out by the end of the rehearsal. I'm not good at staying hydrated and I was dizzy and lightheaded and I had a really bad stomach ache (which is back now) and I just felt like shit overall.
I have to say that choreography and dance is my least favorite part of musical theater. We haven't gotten to any of the actual singing portion of rehearsals yet, and that's what I look forward to the most.
Unfortunately, I feel like I'm going to be in like two songs, maximum because this play doesn't have a lot of group numbers, and the ones it does have the director and choreographer are narrowing down to just the main Jets/Sharks, meaning the ensemble isn't included.
Just my luck, huh.
Also, I'm pretty sure I'm supposed to be a dude, and I have a really high singing voice, meaning it's going to be a considerable struggle for me.
In other news, my 5SOS concert is now in less than a week and my mom might be letting me and my friend skip play practice that day so we can go early and see Hey Violet at their acoustic hangout and I might be able to give them the little sculptures I made of them and I'm really excited but it hasn't been confirmed yet because I need to email my director about missing it and stuff.
Wish my luck that I can get out of it *crosses fingers*
