color
/noun/
the property possessed by an object of producing different sensations on the eye as a result of the way the object reflects or emits light:
Komori was supposed to be supporting his cousin's team, but he couldn't bring himself to be around him right then. He recalled the way Sakusa enveloped his soulmate in a hug before the match and his fingers curled into a fist.
He hated being jealous of his cousin, but he was beginning to believe that he'd never find his soulmate, and of course his successful, famous, rich cousin would find his soulmate right off the bat.
He kicked a pebble on the path and watched as it skidded into the grass. Loud cheering broke through his thoughts and he turned to the building across from the one Sakusa was playing in. Women's Volleyball Championship was written on a sign above the entrance.
He felt as though he were drawn towards the door. His feet moved on their own accord, carrying him toward the entrance. He didn't know why he felt such a pull towards the building, but he couldn't help but feel like something awaited him inside.
As he walked through the doors, his ears were blasted by the cheering crowd and the sound of a ball hitting the laminate flooring. He made his way through the stands, easily finding an empty seat near the top where he could observe the match.
He watched the players move with graceful ferocity, the setter setting the ball perfectly to the spikers, who hit the ball with all their strength, only to meet the blocks of the other team. It wasn't until one of the women hit the ball across the court that Komori found what had lured him here.
The libero dove for the ball, your palm flat to the ground as the ball hit the top of your hand and went flying back to the team. The moment Komori's gaze lay on you, it happened.
Komori's world had been shades of gray since the moment he opened his eyes. It was the same for everyone else and would stay that way until they met their soulmate. But, suddenly, all of the gray melted away, revealing beautiful, bright, brilliant color. It was as though the world had exploded- the uniforms, the banners, the crowds, it was all suddenly so dazzling that it took his breath away.
But none of it compared to you.
You stood up from your dive, shaking out your hair and flashing a grin to your teammates. Komori's gaze grew greedy, taking in every aspect of your being, from the color of your uniform, to the sparkle in your eyes. You were beautiful and perfect and all his.
My soulmate.
He knew he had to find a way to meet you. After all, you hadn't yet seen him, which meant you hadn't experienced the explosion of color that Komori had. He smiled dreamily, trying to picture what your expression would be once you saw your soulmate for the first time.
The match seemed to drag on forever, Komori only satiated by watching your every move. His heart pounded in his chest. There was no way he could let something so precious slip through his fingers.
Finally, the match came to an end, your team winning the game by only a few points. The other team tearfully trudged out of the stadium while your team jumped up and down energetically and hugged each other.
