Title: Attention

Pairings: Tendou x Reader

WARNINGS: Yandere themes, Tendou you little-

Summary: It's only fair that you want Tendou's attention as much as he's wanted yours.

attention

/noun/

notice taken of someone or something; the regarding of someone or something as interesting or important.

When Tendou had first heard of a third-year student transferring to Shiratorizawa, he thought very little about it. Although he had gossiped plenty with the other third years in the volleyball club about if the student would be a pretty girl or not and whose class they would end up in, he didn't care much about the outcome.

Every student at Shiratorizawa ended up the same. Tendou's teammates would treat him fine but remain wary. Everyone else would avoid him like he had the plague. He was sure the transfer student would be no different.

When the transfer student- you- had finally arrived at the school, the students were abuzz with excitement. As many had hoped, you were, in fact, a pretty girl and, if a jealous Semi was telling the truth, you were in Class 2. Same as Tendou.

You were easy to pick out in the crowd when you walked by with a group of students eager to escort you. Your eyes roamed either side of the hallway, seemingly eager to take in Shiratorizawa's impressive campus.

Inevitably, your eyes fell on Tendou. Surprisingly, your gaze slid right off of his and onto the next person.

He waited for the double-take everyone did. That glance to his wildly-styled fire-engine-red hair. That uncomfortable avoidance of his intense eyes. That judgmental stare that studied his face- the one everyone thought was "creepy" or "weird".

That second glance never came.

You simply walked past and continued your early morning tour through the school, unaware of how much such a simple action meant to one student.

You weren't purposefully ignoring him- you'd simply looked at him and moved on, same as any other student you'd passed so far. You looked at him and saw nothing more than a normal, human person. Not a monster to ogle at or be afraid of.

Most people would've thought nothing of such an insignificant occurrence, but to someone who struggled since early childhood to find the few people out there who didn't dislike him at first sight, this was monumental.

Semi had told the truth, it seemed, because you were walking into Classroom 2 not long before the bell. The teacher had you wait awkwardly in the front of the class as the other students trickled in. Your eyes idly scanned the seated third years and Tendou found himself sitting up a little straighter when your gaze fell on him for the second time that morning.

And, yet, your eyes didn't linger this time either.

After the bell signaled the start of class, the teacher prompted you to introduce yourself to the class. You took a deep breath and did just that, Tendou marveling at the way you managed to sound so confident but tremble in nervousness at the same time. When he learned your name, he fought back the urge to try out saying it out loud.
