After scanning for my name, I went over the list again. Looking to see who else from the class passed, and as it turns out we all did except two people. Two of the most shocking people really, it was extremely hard to believe that they failed. Especially since I knew just how dedicated they are to wanting to become Heroes.
"WHAT, HOW COULD I FAIL!" Katsuki screamed, seething from not seeing his name grazing the screen in front of us all. My senses knew he was about to do something, as I quickly found him in the crowd taking his sparking hands into mine.
I didn't really know what I could say in the moment to make him feel better, so I just pulled him close. He had to bend a little but didn't object to resting his head on my shoulder, and wrapped his arms around my waist.
Another pair of arms joined the mix, wrapping around Kat's waist from the back. Shoto had a gutted look on his face, disappointed in himself for being so reckless in that last test. Ruining his chance at getting a license, of course it wouldn't be the end of the world. Both could try again, the test would be different next year.
"Todoroki!" The extremely enthusiastic boy called out and Shoto pulled away from the hug, turning to look at the boy who addressed him.
Kat and I also pulled apart, turning to look at the interaction. The boy slapped his hands on the side of his legs before bending at the waist. His head smacking into the ground as he peered backwards through his open legs.
"I'm sorry I let my judgement get the better of me. It's my fault you failed," he called out, and let out a deep sigh. This was surprising to watch, to say the least.
"No it was my own actions that were my downfall. But after hearing some of the things you said, well I've got alot to think about," he admits lightly bowing his head, letting bygones be bygones.
Just then Mineta came over and starting spewing words of discouragement. Trying to get on Bakugo's nerves, and to be honest this would've been the only time I wouldn't hold Kat back from hitting the pervy boy.
"How's it feel to have the class hierarchy fall. Must feel pretty awful," the walking grape head taunted, causing me to become angry. How could he be rude at a time like this?
"You better watch your mouth Herbert the Pervert or I'll make your life hell," I seethed glaring at him, as he creepily climbed up Kat's arm. The angry Pomeranian boy was seething, his eyes narrowing to the point it looked like he had no pupils or irises.
Luckily Iida stepped in, grabbing the boy by his head and placing him down on the ground. Words didn't need to be spoken as Iida gave him that signature look. One that asserted authority, the look that those in the class learned to submit to.
The guy running the test went on to explain how things are going to go from now on. And people were walking around handing out the results for how they scored us. I was shocked to see that I had 98 points. They deducted two for a small phrase I said during the rescue part. But that was it.
It was then stated that those who failed would still get to earn their license after taking part in a three month course and passing another test. Which was the greatest news ever.
"That's great!" I turned to look at my boyfriend's who looked hopeful.
Sure it was a different means of getting certified but at least they got this second chance. With All Might out of commission, we'd need all the heroes we could get. Which is why they didn't kick those out who failed.Since everything was over, we all left on the bus. Going back to the dorms, but once getting there I decided to head home for awhile, and the boys wanted to come too. We still hadn't told my parents about us yet, so maybe tonight would be that time.
Walking inside, the smell of baking cookies hit my nose, ensnaring my senses for a few seconds.
"Well if it isn't my semi pro hero," Mom called out as she peeked through the kitchen door. A big smile on her face, I returned it going to sit at the table. Kat and Shoto following suit.
"Mom I've got to ask you something," I tell her, and she nodded her head. As she began prepping things so dinner.
"Ask away my little storm cloud," she says with a bright smile and I let out a deep sigh.
"How come you didn't tell the Todoroki's that Touya is still alive? But also, why didn't you tell me that they think he's dead?" I asked the buzzing questions that were eating away at me since Shoto told me in-between tests.
My mother's eyes grew wide at the question. Hanging her head slightly in shame as she huffed a sigh. The boys were sitting on either side of me, listening intently.
"Ten years ago he came to the hospital all burnt up. Didn't want his father to know he was there, so he purposely went to see your father, asking him not to get ahold of his parents. He'd burnt himself with his fire, and it was bad. After your dad treated him, Touya faked his death. Then ran away, I should've told you when you got older," she explained sending a look of sorrow towards Shoto and I.
"Mom he's with the league, it was him who helped capture Katsuki and I. Maybe if you told me sooner this could've been prevented," I scoffed feeling my anger start to surface, it's not like I wanted to shout at my mother but sometimes my anger takes ahold of me.
"What! No youmust've misken that person for someone else," she says trying to defend her actions and I could only do one thing to prove it to her.
I began glowing pink, controlling this part of my power is easier the more I used it. Now above us was the memory of Kat and I getting captured. The boys held my hands tightly, as we watched the memory. Two of us reliving the event that still plagued our minds everyday.
Mom watched on in horror, because she knew that I was right. The boy who she once loved like a son, was now a villian working to take down All Might. Well I guess they didn't have to take him down now, but they were still at large.
"For years I've hated Enji because I thought he was the one to hurt Touya, so I've basically hated the man more that I should've. For a whole damn decade," I state, feeling slightly ashamed.
At this moment I was mouthing off at Shiggy in the memory. My clever quips did make my mom crack a smile and I felt my anger dwindle. I could never stay mad at her for long,
I just wished she told me sooner......
