Chapter 427: L takes the Field

L POV

This world is full of monsters.

Whether I hate to admit it or not. My fear has always been monsters.

But not the kind you hear in bedtime stories from your parents or urban legends. 

In fact, there are many types of monsters that exist in this world. Those who cause trouble, commit the most heinous of crimes, kidnappers, rapists, you name it.

The worst kind of monsters...are the ones that hide the truth.

Monsters that lie. 

They pose as human beings without having knowledge of what a human heart is.

They believe that they can go live their normal lives by deceiving others for their own gain.

It is ironic, isn't it?

I did surround myself with monsters when I was in ANHS.

People like Yuuichi, Sora, and of course, Kiyotaka himself are just a few of these monsters.

But to be fair...I'm also that monster.

I lied about my age to my fellow classmates under Chairman Sakayanagi Narumori's request so that I can fit in with Class S.

While I knew that my age charade wouldn't last long. I'm more surprised at the fact that none of them up until we started the CSD where it was mentioned.

I guess they knew but never mentioned it since we did have a lot of trust by then.

I may be a monster myself but the biggest monster of them all is someone I've been investigating for long time.

Atsuomi...that man has evaded me for years. 

Using politics to advantage. He has been untouchable for a long time. While I do have the evidence presented to me by Nakano Maruo.

There's potential that it will easily get brushed off by the officials who are most likely manipulated to be on his side.

That's I've been doing my own research in order to further expose Atsuomi. It took me two years to do so.

I've been digging through documents, different files, and criminal history that would've likely been kept hidden or removed by the government know that Atsuomi has already a criminal record. 

In fact, the reason why he hasn't even been arrested a long time ago is that his associates would've likely cleaned his criminal record to have his history clean enough to be involved in the world of politics.

I've managed to find said associates involved with the White Room.

I've only recently gotten this info thanks to a tip from Dazai who despite he himself being very busy, was able to give me this unexpected intel while investigating the government.

Which led me to here.

3rd person POV

It had been a while since one of the best detectives in the world has gone outside.

He has been inside of the Taskforce Base for two years. Basically, doing nonstop work in order to deal with all of these pending and impending disasters from the criminal underworld.

While unhealthy of him to be stuck inside of the same place for a couple of years. Watari, who's been his assistant has been keeping him in the fold.

Watari is also the man who founded Wammy's House who found L who was 8 at that time and brought him into the institution.
