Chapter 316: Early Signs

Somewhere in Tokyo

3rd person POV

In an unsuspecting coffee shop called "Cafe Lycoreco".

Dazai arrives. 

He opens the door as a man on the counter greeted him. 

Dazai: Hi, Mika-san.

Mika: Welcome, Dazai-san.

Dazai: Is she here? 

Mika: She's currently on a mission but she said she'll be coming back soon.

Dazai: I see. I'll have the usual.

Mika: Very well.

After about just half a minute.

Dazai got his coffee and sipped on it.

Dazai: Mhmm, it honestly tastes like the one I had back in Yokohama. Not bad.

Mika: So, how is it? 

Dazai: If you're referring to the new threat that's been showing up then it seems that things are going to get worse from here. 

Mika: I see.

Dazai: I need all the help I can get. This isn't a job that the Armed Detective Agency nor the Classified Special Division would be able to deal with alone. After all, this organization that you're working for specializes in dealing with threats before it happens right? 

Mika: Of course.

Dazai: Well then, let me ask you this. Do you know about Unit 731? 

Mika: I've heard of it. It was a covert biological and chemical warfare research and development unit of the Imperial Japanese army in World War 2. Why'd you ask?

Dazai: You see, Unit 731 was officially terminated in August of 1945 at the end of World War 2. However, rumors circulate that that the government are secretly re-establishing it under the people's noses in order to continue to their biological weapon's experiment. A friend of mine told me that they've created a special biological weapon so dangerous that it has the potential to infect an entire continent or even the entire world.  

Mika: Is that so? 

Dazai: Yes, and there's even rumors that the European government also had a hand in creating this biological weapon. Which is why the Japanese government has classified it as a Calamity weapon. The weapon is something like Anthrax for example however, this weapon doesn't cause sickness. It's much worse than that. 

Mika: What do you mean? 

Dazai: Anyways, that weapon is unfortunately stolen. 

Mika: Stolen? 

Dazai: That's right. 

Dazai then shows a tablet as he presses a few buttons. 

Mika looked at the tablet as he saw a truck that was completely destroyed as two men, one who has white hair and the other has dirty blonde hair along with a few armed men with them as they carried some black boxes. 

Mika: Who are they?

Dazai zooms in on the two people in particular. 

Dazai: The one with the white hair is named Makishima Shogo. The other one I'm not too sure since I don't have too much info on the blonde one yet.

Mika: Makishima? I think I've heard that name before. 

Dazai: He's a well-known criminal that the Japanese government have been eyeing on for some time for his list of horrendous crimes. Some of them are even borderline terrorism and yet despite all that, he was never caught regardless of what the government did. He's a very illusive man. Even the agency couldn't get a hold of him which makes him quite a tricky guy to find.
