Gaille immediately ran to the opposite direction, avoiding Serena at all cost before she finally loses her mind.
Ever since sinabi ni Gaille na she would consider their deal if Serena kept on trying, hindi na tumigil si Serena sa pag-persuade kay Gaille into accepting the deal— which is engaging in a fake relationship with her.
So for the next days, Serena kept pursuing Gaille whenever an opportunity comes just so she could make the latter agree to her condition. But everything's too much for the tall girl to handle.
One time, nasa school café si Gaille early in the morning just to get herself a nice cup of hot coffee since kulang na kulang siya sa tulog kagabi dahil sa pesteng reaction, review and reflection paper na sabay-sabay pinagawa sa kanila para lang malaman if the students really know how to distinguish the three papers.
But instead of getting a peaceful time alone with her coffee, Serena sat on a chair next to her para lang pilitin si Gaille na ihatid siya sa classroom nila.
Gaille regrets ever telling Serena kung anong oras siya papasok kinabukasan when the latter asked her yesterday.
"You've been enrolled for 3 whole months and hindi mo pa rin alam ang way mo papuntang classroom?" Pambabara ni Gaille kay Serena.
"Hoy! Siyempre kunwari lang, ito naman! Pakitang-gilas ka lang kay Claire. Ang sweet mo kuno kasi hinahatid mo pa ko sa classroom and all that shit."
"Bare minimum, Serena. She wouldn't take it as a romantic gesture."
"Bare minimum pero 'di man lang magawa sa'kin ng ibang manliligaw ko." Reklamo ni Serena.
"Truly."
"See? You know naman pala eh. Though some of them naman hinahatid ako kaso kapag alam lang nila na maraming makakakita."
"You have bad taste in men, you know that? Oh wait, guys pala. Men voluntarily walks with you to your classroom."
"Tama! So, will you walk me na sa classroom namin?"
"No."
In the end, napapayag din naman ni Serena si Gaille because she insisted on treating the latter for a coffee.
And because ayaw na makipagsagutan ni Gaille sa isang makulit na tulad ni Serena.
Kung ano-ano pang pakulo ang ginawa ni Serena para lang mapapayag si Gaille. And the latter already had enough. Now, she's trying to hide herself to the girl chasing her.
Pero sa sobrang distracted niya sa pagtatago, she didn't even realized that she had already lost Serena.
Or so she thought...
"Tangina naman nito ni Gaille! Gusto pa literal na maging habulin ng babae." Serena thought as she ran through the hallways.
Hingal na hingal na siya sa sobrang bilis ni Gaille tumakbo.
"Haba naman kasi ng biyas ng babaeng 'yon. Anong laban ko do'n?"
Hindi na napansin ni Serena ang dinadaanan niya at tuluyang bumangga sa taong nasa harap niya ngayon.
"Hala! Sorry po!" Serena apologized and looked up to see who she bumped into.
She never regretted a decision as much as she did today.
"Fancy seeing you again, Serena."
"Justine..."
"So sino tinatakbuhan mo? Bagong manliligaw na naman?" Justine smirked. "Oh no, wait. Balita ko pala after ko wala ka nang naging manliligaw. Does that mean, it's you who's chasing someone na? Pft, pathetic."
"Please, there are tons of guys na nakapila sa'kin kaya. I just don't entertain them anymore. Eh ikaw ba? After ko ba may pumatol sa'yo? Wala diba? Sinong mas pathetic sa'tin?"
Justine step forward and inched his face dangerously close to Serena. "Don't get so full of yourself now, Serena. Every guy in my class already knows how much of a paasa you are. Later on, everyone inside the campus will."
"Wala akong pake, Justine. Hindi rin naman ako papatol sa isa sa inyo dahil ang aasim niyo na nga, hindi pa bumawi sa ugali. Stop being bitter dahil lang sa natapakan ego mo. It's your own fault kung bakit hindi kita kayang sagutin before."
May mga estudyanteng narinig ang sagutan nilang dalawa kaya naman lahat sila'y nagsilapit, nanood at nakinig habang nagbubulungan sa isa't isa.
"Diba si Justine Mayores 'yun? 'Yung nanliligaw dati kay Serena?"
"Oo pero balita ko binasted daw siya nung nag-date sila."
"Choosy pa ni ate mo Serena. Si Justine na 'yan oh!"
"Kaya nga, beh! Kala siguro ni Serena kinaganda niya 'yon."
"Kawawa naman si Justine. Ba't kasi 'di na lang ako!"
"Malay niyo naman pangit lang talaga manligaw si Mayores."
"Real! Balita ko babaero nga raw 'yan eh."
"Huy teh! Makinig kayo, umiinit na ang tsaa!"
Natawa naman si Justine at tinuro ang sarili. "My fault? I gave you everything, Serena. Pinapadalhan kita ng flowers and gifts, hinahatid kita sa classroom niyo pati nga sa bahay niyo na mismo. Hindi pa ba sapat 'yon para sa'yo? Saan pa ba ko nagkulang?"
"Sa bare minimum, Justine. Kailangan ko pa ba talagang sabihin sa'yo? Isa pa, you try to act like a gentleman kapag lang naman maraming nakakakita na magkasama tayo. Pero kapag tayong dalawa na lang, you just flaunt your riches and continue to boast out how lucky I would be if ikaw makakatuluyan ko. Clout chaser ka na nga, egocentric pa."
"Ah gano'n? Talagang sinusubukan mo pasensya ko."
"Ano? Hindi ka makailag 'no? Totoo kas—"
Justine pushed Serena out of anger and frustration. He cannot bear hearing those words from the same girl who dumped him lalo na't may mga nanonood sa kanila sa tabi.
Medyo napalakas ang tulak ni Justine kay Serena kaya naman napaatras siya nang kaunti. She thought she would stumble though but someone immediately catches her from behind.
"Pushing a girl just because your ego got hurt? Maybe you deserved to be dumped after all." A voice stated coldly from behind Serena.
"Gaille?"
"Shut up. If you're even defending her, that means you really don't know who she is. Sa una pa lang dapat nakinig na ko sa sabi-sabi ng iba. Paasa siya. She finds her suitors convenient for her tapos kapag nagsawa na siya, she would dump them."
"I know her well enough to know that she isn't at fault if your courtship didn't work."
Justine scoffed. "Ah talaga? Sino ka ba at kaano-ano mo si Serena to have that bold statement?"
Gaille's hand went down onto Serena's, clasping them together. For the latter, it was an assurance— an assurance to trust Gaille and play along with whatever she had planned.
Once Gaille knows that the girl has settled down, she took a deep breath before sending a glare towards Justine.
"Sino ako? I'm Gaille Apuli... Serena's current suitor."
