Chapter 23

Thanksgiving Day

Ang pinakahihintay na event ng lahat ng estudyante.

Actually, 'yung gusto nila 'yung event mamayang gabi.

Anyway, hindi pa naman nags-start ang event since may morning mass pa before the thanksgiving feast.

And since Jordyn and Sydney had to make it up for their failed project, maaga silang pumasok to prepare for the event.

They're currently inside the office where the things needed for the mass are. Sabay silang nag-aayos sa multipurpose hall kasama ng mga committees and volunteers for the preparation of the event.

"Jo, pakilagay na lang 'tong table sa gitna. Then ikaw na maglagay at mag-ayos ng mga gagamitin ni Father later sa mass, Syd." Utos sa kanila ng isa sa mga seniors nila

"Copy po, ate!" Jordyn answered for both of them.

"Tulungan na kita, Jordyn." A guy near her volunteered.

"Ay, Theo! Thank you! Sige pabuhat na lang ako do'n sa kabilang side."

With Jordyn's cue, she and Theo lifted up the table at the same time, positioning it where it was designated.

Jordyn wiped her sweat and thanked Theo again for helping her, giving him a warm smile.

"Thank you ulit, ha, Theo? Medyo mabigat pala 'tong table."

"No worries, Jordyn!" Theo suddenly shy away from her sight, bashfully looking down with his hand on his nape. "Nga pala, mamayang gabi Weenie Roast na 'no? May kasama ka na b—"

"Scoot away, Theo! Maya ka na lumandi."

Hindi na natapos ni Theo ang sasabihin niya nang biglang sumingit si Sydney sa gitna nila, holding a plain white mantle for the table, interrupting Jordyn and Theo's conversation.

"Ay! Sorry." Theo apologized.

Sydney rolled her eyes as she fixed the table's mantle. "Sorry ka diyan! Nag-volunteer ka lang naman dito para maka-damoves kay Jo."

"Luh? I-imbento ka talaga, Sydney!"

"Syd naman, 'wag ka ngang bastos." Paalala ni Jordyn.

"Ako pa talaga ah. Busy tayo mag-prep para sa event ta's kayo ni Theo tamang landi lang diyan. Ewan ko sa inyo!"

Padabog na umalis si Sydney to get the rest of the materials needed for the table's decor, leaving Theo and Jordyn alone to talk.

"Ah, Theo, pagpasensyahan mo na ah? Gano'n talaga 'yon." Jordyn apologized for her.

"Sanay naman na ko diyan kay Syd. Sungit talaga 'yan." Theo laughed. "Pero may point din naman siya. Mamaya na lang siguro tayo mag-usap, Jo?"

"Sure! Free naman na ko later."

Theo smiled and left to help the others with the preparation. Sakto namang pagbalik ni Sydney with the rest of the table decorations in her hand.

"Oh, tapos ka na magsungit?" Jordyn sarcastically greeted.

Sydney scoffed and arranged the decor on the table. "Kasi naman, there's a right time and right place for whatever he had to say. Dito ka pa talaga niya aayain na magkasama kayo sa Weenie Roast."

"Sus, baka naman gusto mo lang na tayong dalawa magkasama mamaya." Pang-aasar naman ni Jordyn sa kaniya.

Sydney went silent and continued arranging the last of the decor she had in hand before facing Jordyn once again.

"You're not wrong naman. Pero only because hindi free si Mich later. So... wala akong kasama mamaya."

"Wow, wala lang pa lang choice. Kaso kasama ko rin naman later si Iya. 'Yung dalawang kaibigan ko kasi gustong humiwalay."
