LUCK DIDNT LAST FOREVER. it was bound to run out, they'd gotten lucky with alexandria. they'd gotten lucky with the meeting, natalia had been lucky that no one found out she'd been the one to kill pete. why she'd done it, it wasn't clear. rick was more than capable of killing a man, and natalia knew that. they all did, rick could've easily pulled the trigger, yet he didn't get the chance to. natalia pulled the trigger, then she disappeared into the darkness. she knew her father didn't want to hurt anyone, he didn't want to lie and take alexandria for themselves. natalia decided he wouldn't have to hurt anyone, he wouldn't have to kill anyone, because she'd do it for him.

it was all luck. finding a community, having everyone together after the fall of the prison, it was all simply luck. it was nothing else besides it, and like all good things, it ran out. snarls, growls and the sound of jaws snapping filled their ears. it was a horrid sight, one that could shake someone to their core. a horde, one larger than any of them had ever seen, stood before them. stick within a corey, two semi trucks blocked them in, allowing one to escape at a time. with each body that slid between the trucks, it pushed them further apart. made the chances of the two trucks slipping and releasing all of the dead a very high risk. it was a risk they couldn't take, a horde the size of the one they looked at, it could run alexandria into the ground. it would destroy their walls and kill everyone.

rick stood atop one of the large rocks, his jaw clenched and a crease between his brows. the grimes girl had felt her mouth go dry at the sight, everything within her body churning and clawing at her from the inside out. "i know this sounds crazy, but this is a crazy world." ricks voice boomed, everyone's attention was solely on the man. each scared beyond recognition, blindly following the man who promised safety. the man they had decided to trust once more. "we have to come for them before they come for us. it's that simple." it was much simpler than the grimes man made it out to be, near to none of the alexandrian's had experience with killing the dead. asking them to step up and get ride of a herd the size of three football fields, it was truly baffling. yet rick believed in them, and when someone stronger and more capable believes in someone who isn't, funnily enough it makes all the difference.

natalia peered over the edge, looking at the hands that reached for her. a grimace on her face,  their hands were pale, their bodies a sickly gray color. she slowly took a step backwards, bumping into lee who gently grasped her arm to stabilize her. "this is where it all starts tomorrow!" rick squinted his eyes, the sun shining brightly on them. burning their skin as they tried to focus on what needed to be dealt with. natalia shifted on her feet, her fingers gently intertwining with lee's, the boy gently squeezed her hand. "tobin gets in the truck clears the exit, and we're out." ricks began to run through the plan once more, making sure everyone had a clear description on what was to happen. not needing any confusion the day they came back and went through with the plan.
