49 - The stars were SO in love

Hyacinth's POV

"I said, let Hyacinth go!!" Cephues stormed over, her presence like a thunderstorm.

Her eyes blazed with intensity as she focused sharply on the girl standing beside me.

Cephues forcefully pushed through the crowd and grabbed the girl by her hair so strongly that she released her grip on me.

"Cephues!" The girl called out in fear, but Cephues paid her no mind, turning instead to face me. Her gaze softened the moment our eyes met.

"Are you okay?" Cephues asked, her voice now gentle, contrasting sharply with the fierceness moments ago. I nodded, still feeling the rush of adrenaline.

"Good," she muttered, turning back to the girl and her friends.

"What in the world do you think you're doing? Are you all out of your minds?!" Her voice rang out loudly, carrying a depth that instilled fear not only in the girl who had attacked me but in all the students within the cafeteria.

"If I catch any of you laying a finger on Hyacinth again, there will be consequences. Do you understand? I won't hesitate to take action against each one of you," she declared icily. The girls nodded hastily, their bravado crumbling under the weight of her words.

Without waiting for a response, Cephues took my hand and led me out of the cafeteria, oblivious to the whispers and stares that followed us.

I could sense her simmering anger, thick in the air, almost suffocating. Once outside, she halted and turned to me, her expression softening once more.

"Are you really okay?" she asked, brushing a strand of hair from my face.

"I'm fine... You shouldn't have intervened like that. They're your fans. Your reputation could suffer," I said, still incredulous at what had transpired.

"I couldn't care less about my reputation. If protecting you makes me the villain in their story, so be it," she replied, her thumb caressing my cheek gently.

"I'm sorry you had to go through that. I should have brought you along."

"It's not your fault," I reassured her, my voice trembling slightly.

"I can handle them, really," I added bravely, earning a soft chuckle from her as she gazed at me with tenderness.

"I know you can," she replied with a small smile.

"But protecting you is my responsibility. I'm willing to sacrifice my image for that."

Her words warmed my heart, revealing how deeply she cared. Walking hand in hand away from the cafeteria, I felt a renewed sense of strength. With Cephues by my side, I knew I could face anything.

As we returned to our usual spot, the tension gradually dissipated. Cephues glanced at me, her eyes filled with concern and determination.

"Let's find another place for lunch. It doesn't feel safe here anymore," she suggested.

I nodded gratefully, appreciating her protective instinct.

"Good idea. Let's look for somewhere quieter."

We decided to leave campus and search for a nearby café. Walking through the bustling streets, I felt a newfound sense of freedom.

Away from prying eyes and judgmental whispers, it was just the two of us.
