Worth a shot

Hyacinth's POV

There are people around me who only desire my company because of my inherent beauty, as if it were the sole reason for their interest.

There are also those who find themselves irritated by my behavior, unable to tolerate my quirks and idiosyncrasies, often rolling their eyes at my antics.

Then there are others who couldn’t care less about what I do or how I feel, drifting through life indifferent to my existence and struggles.

In this world, where everyone around you could potentially become an enemy, there exists one person who will always stand by your side, someone you can lean on in times of trouble and joy alike.

I have that person, and I tell you, she is the best woman I have ever met in my entire life, a rare gem in a sea of superficiality.

She has taught me how to love deeply, to be humble in the face of adversity, to accept my mistakes without shame, and so much more—lessons I cherish every day.

Even though I was not the best partner to her in the past, caught up in my own flaws and insecurities, I would shatter the world without hesitation if that were her wish today.

“I’m ten steps ahead of you. Are you going to fight back?” my playful wife, Cephues, teased me as she playfully climbed ten steps up the staircase, her spirit radiating with joy.

Where are we? In her mother’s quaint hometown in Korea. We are here for our honeymoon, a beautiful escape, and we are out exploring together, hand in hand, lost in our own little world.

“Of course, I’ll fight back,” I replied confidently, my heart swelling with determination. We engaged in a playful game of rock-paper-scissors, and she won again, effortlessly taking ten more steps up the stairs while I remained on the ground, laughing at her infectious enthusiasm.

I watched her with a smile, captivated by the sight of her seemingly jumping like a child, bounding up each step of the staircase we were climbing with such glee.

Throughout my life, I have seen Cephues act with maturity beyond her years, but now, witnessing her playful and childish side brings immense joy to my heart, illuminating my spirit.

We know we’re too old to be acting like children, yet neither of us had a particularly good childhood, and I realize we’re simply healing our inner child, rediscovering the joy we once lost.

“And I’m at the top! Ha! I beat you, bleh!” she exclaimed triumphantly, finally reaching the top and teasing me, sticking out her tongue in a playful taunt and making all sorts of amusing gestures that left me grinning.

I could only laugh, charmed by how adorable she looked in her moment of victory, her joy so palpable it was impossible not to share in it.

That’s my wife, a beacon of light in my life.

That’s my Cephues, my partner, my everything.

The woman before me is the only person who has truly loved me for who I am, without reservation or judgment.

She loves me through every peak and valley, embracing every facet of my being with a grace that seems to transcend the ordinary.
