Chapter 28: Glasses

Int. Big Bang Burger – Later

Akira and Makoto are sitting in a booth, next to each other, inside of the Big Bang Burger that's located inside of Shibuya. Akira notices that Makoto seems uncomfortable about something and assumes that it has to do with being on a double date, for the first time.

Akira Kurusu: You don't have to be so nervous. This is my first time being on a double date too, ya know?

Makoto Niijima: Oh, it's...not that. I just kind of wished Eiko had chosen a different location for the double date, that's all.

Akira Kurusu: Hm, not the biggest fan of "Big Bang Burger?" I haven't eaten here, before so I don't know how the food tastes. Is the food bad or something? Did you have a bad experience the last time you were here?

Makoto Niijima: T-the food is fine, I suppose. I've had it a couple of times. It pretty much tastes like most fast food burger joints in Japan. Although, you could say I have some...unpleasant memories in regards to this place. I don't really want to talk about it, if that's alright with you?

Akira Kurusu: Yeah, that's fine. Changing the subject, this is the first time your meeting Eiko's boyfriend, right? It's kind of surprising. She's met me tons of times. Haha. Although, that's probably because you like showing me off.

Makoto blushes, slightly and elbows Akira in the side, harder than she means to. Akira grunts in pain.

Makoto Niijima: It is strange, though. Eiko seems like the type, who would want to introduce her boyfriend to me, immediately and, at first, she did. However, when I told her I was interested in the double date, now, she almost seemed...hesitant about it. Perhaps, things haven't been going well between the two or she's embarrassed to show him to me?

Akira Kurusu: Eiko, embarrassed? I, highly, doubt that. Maybe, he's ugly or something. Not everyone can be a fucking giga chad like me.

Makoto elbows Akira in the side, again, even harder than last time, causing Akira to grunt in pain.

Akira Kurusu: Eh, I'm sure everything will be fine. There's probably a good reason for Eiko's hesitation. Plus, we're both meeting him, here soon, so if there's anything wrong with him, we'll know, immediately. Hopefully, we're just worrying over nothing, though and that he's a cool dude.

Makoto sighs, still, clearly, worried.

Makoto Niijima: I really hope that you're right.

The two are interrupted by the noise of the doors to Big Bang Burger being opened. Akira and Makoto both turn to look at who entered Big Bang Burger. Eiko makes her way inside of the Big Bang Burger while her boyfriend, Tsukasa, is holding the door for her. Tsukasa has long, brown hair that, slightly, gets in his eyes. He has a confident smile on his face as he makes his way into Big Bang Burger. Tsukasa takes Eiko's hand, without hesitation. They hold hands on their way to Akira and Makoto's booth. Tsukasa, politely, lets Eiko take her seat in the booth, in front of Akira and Makoto, first, until sitting, next to her. Before Eiko can even speak, Tsukasa greets Makoto and Akira.

Tsukasa: What's up, you two? I can't believe it's taken me this long to meet you both. You must be Makoto Niijima...what a beauty...makes total sense that your friends with Eiko! She's told me so much about you, Makoto.

Akira Kurusu: Easy with the compliments there, buddy.

Tsukasa switches his attention to Akira, still smiling.

Tsukasa: Ah, you must be Makoto's boyfriend. Hm. I know Eiko mentioned your name to me but I just can't seem to remember it. How odd. How about I just call you...glasses?
