Int. Kawakami's Apartment – Later
Kawakami makes her way into her apartment, via the front door of her apartment. The apartment sitter that she hired to look after her apartment while she was at the hospital is already gone. Kawakami makes her way into the living room and sits on the couch, reflecting on the conversation that she had just had with Taiki Takase's grandparents.
Sadayo Kawakami: That could have gone better.
She smiles to herself, feeling like a weight has been lifted off of her shoulders.
Sadayo Kawakami: Although, that probably could have gone a hell of a lot worse. It felt good to tell those two old fucks off.
Kawakami looks at the ceiling of her apartment.
Sadayo Kawakami: I'm sorry I was mean to your grandparents, Taiki. I hope you don't mind...and that you're doing alright, wherever you are. At the very least, I hope that you aren't as exhausted, wherever you are, now, Taiki. I'm not very religious...hell, I'm not religious at all. Still, I hope the afterlife is peaceful because you deserve to be in a place like that, now, after spending so long, feeling exhausted.
Kawakami realizes that she's crying and wipes away the tears with the sleeve of the long-sleeved shirt that she's wearing that's covering her right arm.
Sadayo Kawakami: I should probably call that Maid café and tell them that I quit, before it gets too late. I doubt they'll even miss my old ass. Still, without that stupid café, I wouldn't be where I am, right now. I guess I can't hate the place too much.
Kawakami hears meows coming from, nearby. She turns towards where the meows are coming from and sees her two black cats making their way towards her. Kawakami smiles at them. The two black cats leap onto the couch and sit, next to her, on the couch.
Sadayo Kawakami: Before I do anything, I suppose I should spend some time with you two, first.
Kawakami begins rubbing the cats, behind their ears and they begin purring.
Int. Pyramid – Day
The date is, now, Tuesday, August 17th and The Phantom Thieves have reached a strange room inside of the pyramid. On the walls of the pyramid are a series of stone tablets that have Egyptian hieroglyphs in them. The hieroglyphs seem to be the ones used to represent letters. Makoto makes her way towards them and begins studying them, much to the other Phantom Thieves members' surprise.
Akira Kurusu: Can you actually understand those?
Makoto nods her head, yes, while continuing to look at Egyptian hieroglyphs.
Makoto Niijima: Yeah, when I was bored, one summer, I taught myself the Egyptian hieroglyphs used for letters. I don't know any other Egyptian hieroglyphs, though. Just the ones that are used for letters. Luckily, it seems like these are the Egyptian hieroglyphs that are used for letters. Although...
Goro Akechi: I hate to be the bearer of bad news but it seems there isn't another way out of this room, other than the way we came in.
Yusuke Kitagawa: Hm, I suppose that means that there must be some mechanism inside of this room that will create an opening.
Ann Takamaki: You think so?
Makoto Niijima: I'm not so sure about that, Fox.
The other Phantom Thieves members turn their attention to Makoto, who is still studying the Egyptian hieroglyphs.
Makoto Niijima: When I read these Egyptian hieroglyphs, it's not making any sense.
Ryuji Sakamoto: Is it because the Egyptian hieroglyphs that you studied were actually different than these.
