"Where is it?" Tyler complains as he looks around. He even took everything out of his bag to try to find his juice box.
"Ty. Honey." I say, getting him to look at me. Honestly, it was like looking at a lost puppy. "You place your juice box right there." I point at the corner of the table.
"Shit, that's where it was?" Tyler grabs the juice box in surprise and then put it back down. "Took everything out of my bag for nothing." He complains as he puts everything back, but once again he looks confused. "Where's my juice box? It was in here a second ago."
"Right, here. It's right here." I grab it and show it to him. He smiles, looks surprised once more, thanks me and goes to drink it.
James starts to laugh. "It reminds me that one time when I was at his house and he took the milk out of the fridge, grabbed something else and then went to the fridge wondering where the milk was."
"Leave him alone." I lecture.
"Well, stop calling him honey, then I will consider it." James has a protective arm around me.
It's lunch. Haley is sitting next to Tyler, talking to him and laughing. Our friends are all here. Everyone is chatting, some left to go to the gym to play a game of basketball or went out to buy some food that's a few blocks up.
But the issue is that Emma and her cousin, Alison is with us. Alison is chatting with someone else, which Emma would join in a few times but I have noticed her looking over at James a few times. However, he hasn't once looked at her, not once. He would be chatting with Koshi and would look over at me.
He expressed more his feelings for me. Never hesitating to calling me his girl or woman. To kiss me, hold my hand, compliment me or just do anything to show me off or what our relationship is.
"So December is coming up." Koshi gets everyone's attention. "Our Jammy boy here has his eighteen birthday coming so how are we celebrating?" He questions. "Are we doing what we always do, two weeks before his birthday?"
"Why don't you ask Cally?" Haley smirks, looking over at Emma slightly before looking at me. "She always celebrate his birthday on the day."
"That's because our mothers are friends." I defend. "And his birthday is a few days after Christmas and hours before New Years." They all know this. "He was born late. Families tends to make Christmas plans or vacations or with you guys, he celebrates it early."
"But for you, on his actual birthday." Emma points out.
I'll be honest, it caught me off guard.
She sounds a little bitter about it. But she's not wrong. Every year, I've always been there to celebrate his birthday with him along side his family. These guys are with their families so it's hard to celebrate his birthday, especially when they live with their parents. If we were university students or people who don't live with their parents and can do what they want, then maybe everyone could celebrate it with him.
But is it selfish of me to want to be the only person that celebrates his birthday with him?
The conversation continues but changes thanks to Tyler suggesting throwing another party. We just had halloween, is this really necessary? Isn't it too soon? I should be fine right? Another night of socializing but then again, the way the party went at Halloween weren't the best memories. Despite what James did was unacceptable, he did stop himself. However, I did sort of kiss him back at the beginning but then I panicked because it was all new to me.
No. I would have let him do whatever he wanted but when the idea that he could be thinking of Emma while he's with me like that broke a piece of me.
James is the kind of guy that would never use alcohol as an excuse. He pulled himself away from me. Regretted what he did because of my reaction. He went to sober up just so that he could talk to me properly and apologize.
