James
I don't care how creepy it is but just watching her is something I love to do. "Just so you know, there wouldn't be any time to take a honeymoon photo to send to our parents." I promised, already picturing our future for us. Since we're official, I can finally say it.
"Hm?" Callista seemed confused as she cleaned the dishes. I offered but she said no. "Oh, that? Don't worry about it. It's not like we're actually going to get married or have a honeymoon." She chuckled but my smile dropped.
"What?" I questioned
She doesn't even look at me but keeps her eyes on the damn dishes. "We're not eventually dating, remember?" A light shrug from her. "We're graduating high school. Universities are on their way. You're going to end up somewhere nice like Denny. Join a league. Get drafted for the NHL. You'll meet so many people."
No doubt. That is part of my plan for my future. Hockey. But why isn't she putting herself in that future and what the hell does she mean we're not dating?
"While I am most likely going to... I don't know where I'm going but I do know it's somewhere far. Somewhere new. A fresh start, something scary yet exciting. Our mothers may be heartbroken by our fake breakup but you'll meet someone and I'll meet someone--"
"Callista."
I'm not going to hear it.
I thought we've already made it clear. I thought-- Fuck, apparently not if she's saying shit like that.
Callista doesn't move, she's frozen in place so I walk to her, turn the water off, took the plate off her hand and set it aside. She still makes no movement so I help her wash her hands and dry them up since I can't have her use the dishes as an excuse to not talk to me or avoid me.
"James--"
"Don't." I warn. Taking her hand and forcing her to follow me that way we could talk may not be the best idea but the hell with it. She doesn't say anything. She doesn't even fight off or call for help.
Once in my room, I get her in. She steps foot in and just looks around my room as if this was her first time here. I closed the door behind us.
She made her way near my bed but once she heard the door closed, there was a light movement from her.
"Okay, so clearly, I wasn't clear last time." I sound pissed. I'm trying to control it but damn it, I need her to get into her head that this isn't pretend anymore. "There's nothing fake. I'm not faking. I haven't been faking anything. There's no other person and there's no you with another person. If you think I'm going to sit back and watch you with some other guy--And I swear, if you go to Elio... I promise you, cariño, I am a very jealous man. If Elio so much as touches you, I will crush him down in our next match on the ice. I ruin his chances in NHL is he--"
"Woah! What does Elio have to do with this?" Callista questioned.
Now I want to explode. Yeah, she may have not mentioned him but when she said or so much suggested that I'll meet someone else and she'll meet someone else, I wanted to punch a hole into the wall.
"Because for fuck sakes, Callista. I'm into you. I am trying to win you over. I want you to look at me the same way you look at those characters in the books you read." I confessed.
Her eyes widen at the confession but there's a mix of confusion.
"I don't want it to be fake." I try to soften my tone. "But we can't start over. It started with a ruse, a trick. But we can't go back. I can't go back to being your friend that is trying to win you over, Callista. It's not pretend anymore." I walked towards her, taking her hand and placing it on my chest like last time. "And I told you, I don't care how many times I have to remind you of it just so that you can have a peace of mind but I am so into you. I'm crazy into you. Shit, Callista, the relationship is fake only if you say it is."
