"Okay, so for your birthday," Hailey says as soon as she sees me walk into the school with James. She grabs me and takes me away from him, not even greeting him. "Are we doing it on the 28 or on the beginning of march?" Hailey asked.
"Depends on the day, honestly." I shrug. "It's not like I'm going to have a big party."
"That's what you said last year but still had one." Hailey laughs. "James's family where there. Your brothers and their close friends and even their families because your family—"
"My mom." I correct.
"—Your mom," Hailey corrects. "Is big on building connection with the parents of your friends. Honestly, your mom is so social, how are you and Eros not? Isn't sociableness a genetic trait?" Haiely question.
"It is, yes." I assure. "However, you have neglected my dad. My mom is social but my dad isn't. Chilly and Denny were really close to mom, in other words—"
"Mama boys." Hailey says with me.
We laugh as we get to my locker. "Yes. So they're social because my mom was their role model. Eros and I, we're close with mom, but we connected more with our dad which created our quiet, calm yet not very social trait. We can socialize, it's just we prefer not to."
"God, how did you parents even got together?" Hailey laugh.
"Mom said she saw, she liked, she wanted and so, she went for the hunt and caught." I put it simply. " But, my birthday is more likely be on a weekend in which I am hopefully not working." I mention, closing my locker once I got everything I need for the first class of the day.
"Fine. Just so you know, I'm not getting you books for your birthday so give me something I can afford." I laughed but shake my head. "And don't say you don't need anything— You know, what? I'm just going to ask James or your brothers."
"Yadda, yadda." I mock. "My birthday doesn't matter but what does though is the special romantic day that's coming up next week." I remind her.
"Are trying to rub my singleness into my face?" Haley ask, insulted.
"No, I'm asking if you'll be getting Tyler anything or express your feelings?" I question.
Her eyes widen and her jaw drops. She starts to stutter and I had to bite my tongue to stop from laughing. "Okay. Listen here, there is nothing going on between Tyler and I—"
"Hey, Ty." I say as I look over her shoulder.
Immediately she turned around while her hand move to her hair to fix it but to her disappointment, he wasn't behind her.
"I hate you." She mumbles, knowing exactly what I just did. She turns back around to face me. "Okay, maybe there's something. We have been texting more often and talking more."
"Why haven't you told me anything? Do you have any idea how painful it is to watch?" I ask her, pretending to be insulted.
"In my defence, I didn't want to jinx it. And second; It's Tyler. He's nice to everyone. He even calls you babe and everything. I don't want to get my hopes up." Hailey explains.
"Honey," she looks at me softly. "You are an idiot." I throw at her.
"Wow. Okay, Fuck you too." Hailey throws me the finger. We start walking down the hall to head to whoever's class shows up first.
"I love you but you're an idiot. But luckily, you're my idiot and I love you." I hug her.
"Aww." She hugs me back and then whispers. "I hope James has a small dick." I smack the back of her head. "Love you!" She yells before leaving my arms and dipping to her class.
