I don't know when the lie first started or how it got out of control.
I got defensive.
I was stupid but damn it, I went crazy.
Desperate.
Mom was right. I was being an idiot.
Everyone has their secrets, rights? Callista told me about it. She told me how everyone has their own secrets when we sat down on the sofa of the dance. Just the two of us. With drinks in hand and everyone enjoying themselves. She looked around, observed and took it all in. I asked her what she saw.
She told me that she's amazed by how weird it is to see everyone act a certain way yet understanding their actions because of the secrets they hold.
I asked her what she meant.
She looked at me with those because brown eyes of her. The chocolate colour eyes that matched her father's and all her brothers. Yet hers were still different, felt different. I can lie to myself and say it's the contacts she's wearing but I know damn well it isn't. Not when it became my favourite colour because of how much I love to just look at them. At her.
My childhood friend, now girlfriend, told me how everyone in this room has a secret. A secret they wish to keep hiding but can't because secrets aren't meant to be kept quiet. Secrets only live for a certain amount of time because it will soon make it to the light, it's just a matter of time.
I didn't understand.
She said she had a talent for riding secrets, an observation yet a game of chance that Eros taught her.
She made me promise her to not tell a word. A secret between us. A secrets that are not meant for us.
I promised her.
I would make any promises she asked.
For her... I'll give anything.
Anna and Rosy. The two best friends yet one going behind the other's back by fucking her boyfriend? I look over to see Rosy dancing with her boyfriend. Some football guy in another high school. He's tall and big. Football guys are different then hockey guys. We have two separate type of training but even thought, the way they look at each other, I would assume they were end game.
But that's not until I noticed his glances at Anna who was by the food table with Cathrine, chatting about who knows what.
They're all sitting at the same table. They've been dating for two years. They've been friends for years. Yet...
I asked Callista how she found out.
She told me she caught them in Richmond together when she went to Indigo to get a book that was only available there.
She told me how Rosy loves to get high. Found her weed in the bag when Rosy asked her if she could get something from her bag but soon taking it away from her when she realized what was in her bag. Callista pretend to be confused, not seeing what was inside.
Its worst since her father is a pastor.
Mike. God... In a relationship with his step-sister? I mean, yeah they're not related but seriously? Step-sister? Now it makes sense how close they are. I was fooled by their good relationship that I started to notice the little details I haven't before.
And Hailey? With the teacher? Her father's best friend? Aren't they about thirty years apart?
Callista said she noticed Hailey going into his class way to many time and would seem to be appropriate. Not to mention she stayed latter than usual and heard them.
