"When will he wake up?"

"It's been weeks already!"

"Ev, please wake up. Please."

I tried to open my eyes and keep my mind conscious but sleep keeps on taking me away.

Sometimes I'm here. Sometimes I'm not. Para akong lumulutang.

"She's still in a coma. Her brothers are taking her home."

"She saved him, Mom."

"No. She almost have him killed, Xanther!"

Kailangan kong makaalis dito. I have to go back to her. She needs me.

"Pag nagising si Ev dito, aalis na tayo. We will go far away from her."

"No."

I opened my eyes. And yes, finally, I can move my eyelids. The light from the room hurts, so I closed them again.

"Everest!"

"Anak!"

My Mom started to cry again and called the nurses.

"I won't leave her." nakapikit kong sabi,

Umiling si Mom at mas lalong umiyak.

"Why do you love her so much, Ev? Muntik ka ng mamatay ng ilang beses dahil sa kanya."

"What if she leaves you again? Hindi ko na kayang makita kang ganun, Ev. You barely functioned when she left!"

I checked the machines in my surroundings. Everything feels light but I don't feel weak or any pain. Even the monitor shows normal vitals.

I pulled out the IV myself and asked the nurses for a tape and cotton.

"Anong ginagawa mo? You just woke up!"

Nilingon ko ang Tatay ko and he's just staring at me. Maya maya lang ay tumayo ito mula sa pwesto nila ni Mom, at may inabot saking susi.

"They took her home. Let her know you're okay." he said,

"Raigh! Anong ginagawa mo?!"

"Not even death can separate them, Xiamara. Whatever happens to Mercedes now, please, give your son a chance to stay with her."

Umiling si Mommy pero wala na itong sinabi at umiyak lang.

Surprisingly, I don't feel weak. I know what happened. I saw how Zed took her last breath, and how that 'thing' took over.

That 'thing' spoke to me. Alam kong hindi siya si Mercedes, but somehow...the way it looked at me feels familiar.

It even called me Beloved.

Well, she said that after almost killing me.

I looked for my Dad's car at wala sa sariling dumiretso papunta sa mansyon ng mga Gabriel.

Kalahating oras ko iyong minaneho bago makarating.

Why do I feel okay? Ni hindi ako nakakaramdam ng gutom or ng sakit o kahit pagod.
