"Ev, papunta na kami. It's a formal dinner, right?" Xanther asked,

I just got out of the hospital and was on my way to Zed's place so I can change clothes when Xanther called. Now, I have to hurry.

"Formal. Kakauwi ko lang, magbibihis pa ko."

"It's alright. We might take hours to get there, sa Bulacan kami galing. Sinundo ko sila Avery."

"How 'bout the others?"

"Bronx will drive them. By the way. Did you know that Brooke's friends are Zedie's nephew?" he asked,

"Who?"

"Rhys and Saaron Villangca, yung madalas niyang pagsleepoveran simula kindergarten, anak pala ng kapatid ni Zed. We just found out."

"How did you know?"

"You sent me their address yesterday, I thought it's quite familiar then Brooke said it's Saaron and Rhys' grandpa's house."

Pagkauwi ko sa bahay ni Zed nagmadali akong maligo at nagbihis. Since formal ang dinner, naglong sleeves ako na itim at black pants. I couldn't find my black loafers so I used my black doc martens instead.

I stared at my wardrobe and realized that I'm becoming like her brothers in terms of style. Not because black is fashionable I never really cared about how I look, but because of their culture.

Kai once told me that wearing black is their way of showing respect to the dead and to the living who soon will be. Dead. It's their culture. It's what their family does and it's what I should do, too.

I was about to leave the premises when Pyre called me. We have plans later for Zed, at gaganapin iyon dito sa lugar nila.

"Tingin mo, anong oras kayo matatapos?" tanong niya,

"Hindi ako sigurado pero pwede ko namang sabihan ang kapatid niya tungkol dito."

"K-kaya m-mo yun?"

I frowned at that. She looks scared.

"Why not? Maayos naman silang kausap."

Other than that time they tried to make me go away by telling me everything about Mercedes.

"M-maayos nga kaso nakakatakot sila! Lalo na si Saab!"

"Don't worry about it. Ako na makikipag-usap. Do you need anything else?"

"Wala na Dok. Nandito naman sila Tiago mamaya para sa pagkain na ihahanda saka yung mga kaklase namin ni Zed tutulong din."

We should be good then. I left as soon as possible, I can't be late, dapat pa ay maunahan ko sila Xanther para masabihan ko sila. They will feel uncomfortable for sure, anyone would be if it's the first they'll meet Zed's family.

I drove past the limit and was inside the Gabriel's compound, parking my car when Bronx's name appeared on my phone's screen. I answered the call.
