Warning: violence, swearing
A/N: No excuses, I deadass forgot to write last week. By the time I realized it was already Sunday and I was like shiiiiiiiiiiit...
Her demeanor was calm, like it always was, but Monika's hands were shaking wildly in her lap. This was it. This was the moment they had all been so desperately waiting and preparing for, she just had to say the magic words. The cafeteria was very lively like it always was, cramped with students all probably making an absurd amount of noise, yet Monika could hear nothing but her pounding heart and quickened breaths. Even when she glanced ahead to where Rose sat all smiley and overjoyed with herself, chatting to Monika about god knows what, nothing. There was nothing. No noise, no sensations, just a frightening numbness.
A flash of pink in the distance caught her attention, Natsuki had moved to sit at the table just opposite Monika's, right behind Rose. Natsuki kept firm eye contact with Monika, before she began gesturing for Monika to breath in, and breath out. Monika followed Natsuki's instructions and found herself grounded, back in her own body almost, the bustling noises of the cafeteria once again ringing in her ears. Once Natsuki could tell Monika had calmed down, she smiled and gave her a big thumbs up, to which Monika couldn't help but smile back at. Yuri swiftly followed and sat neatly besides Natsuki, phone at the ready with a determined fire in her eyes.
Just when Monika thought she couldn't feel any safer, Sayori appeared like an angel right beside her, a gently touch on her shoulder as she handed Monika her notebook from their previous class before lunch. Her softer than a coat of snow hand lingered on her shoulder delicately, before she walked away to sit by Natsuki and Yuri.
Rose had a scowl and a glare unlike any other that Monika had seen before as Sayori left, just as planned, Rose was now in an unpleasant mood.
"Who the fuck does she think she is?? Monika I told you not to see or talk too that bitch anymore." Spat rose vindictively, glaring daggers at Monika, the others around them all stiffened. No one liked it when Rose got angry, and Monika just sighed.
"She was just returning my notes Rose, no need to overreact." Said Monika, earning several worried glances from the surrounding students and Rose's face began to grow red with rage.
"Oh, feeling daring today Moni!? Feeling like talking back?? Look at the fucking balls on you!! I just don't want sluts around my girlfriend! Is that too much to ask??! Is that overreacting?!?? Me just looking out for you because I love you?!??" At the sound of those words Monika slammed her hands down on the table, now glaring at Rose with an expression she had never made before, enough to shake the souls of everyone around to see it.
"Don't you dare say you love me. The likes of you could never understand the meaning of that word."
"Wha-" "Love isn't blackmailing someone into having relations with you." Interrupted Monika, glancing towards her worried looking friends, was her expression really that terrifying? She made eye contact with Sayori before softening her gaze and expression, taking a deep breath before relaxing her shoulders and looking Rose dead in the eye.
"You are single handedly the most unpleasant, spoiled, disgusting and bad shit crazy bitch I have ever met in my life. I honestly hope you burn in hell for what you've done to me and my friends." Rose seemed too stunned to speak, frozen in place.
"Were through. I'm breaking up with you." Things moved in slow motion as Rose's face became even more twisted with rage, her movements fluent as she leapt across the table, grabbing Monika by the throat as they both fell to the floor. Monika felt no shock, seeing this coming from a mile away, but the collision still hurt like a motherfucker. Rose was screaming her lungs out, only moving her hands away from Monikas neck to strike her face with desperation. Monika allowed a few hits to make contact before fighting back, pulling Rose away by her hair and punching her exposed neck. Rose's desperate chokes for air felt like a sweet summers song and she fell to the side off of Monika as she tried to breath.
Sayori, Natsuki and Yuri all came rushing to Monika's side, helping her up and hugging her, Yuri's phone still filming as they looked over Monika's injuries. Tears began filling Sayori's eyes from the panic of it all as she wrapped her arms around Monika, like her life depended on it.
"S-She tried to kill you!" Stuttered Sayori as Monika hugged her back and chuckled in a raspy voice.
"We should go to the nurses office." Said Natsuki, able to very clearly guess and identify the type of injuries Monika sustained from personal experience.
Monika tried to reassure them she was fine, but teachers quickly stormed the scene and separated everyone. Monika and Rose were sent to the infirmary, Natsuki, Yuri, Sayori and others were taken to make statements and at the end of it all, parents were all called to meet the principal.
Monika and Rose sat in silence in front of the principal as they waited for their parents. She could feel Rose's eyes glaring at her, but Monika just ignored her and was messaging Sayori on her phone before the door to the office slammed open.
"Oh my poor baby, are you okay??" Said Rose's mother as she immediately ran to her side and began coddling her, Rose's father followed shortly.
"I am not fine mother!! Monika attacked me out of nowhere!! I was just defending myself but everyone is making me out to be the bad guy!!" Cried out Rose with crocodile tears. Monika just rolled her eyes and could see an unimpressed expression overcome the principals face at her performance.
"How have you not called the police on this barbaric girl?!?" Screamed Rose's father.
"Before we involve the police, I suggest we wait for Monika's parents to arrive where we may all look though the security footage and negotiate wha-" "NEGOTIATE??" Snapped Rosalines mother.
"There will be no such thing!! I want this girl put in jail for attacking my little angel!!" Just then, the doors opened and Monika's parents actually showed up. Monika was genuinely surprised, she was ready to defend herself alone against these two backwards parents, but hers actually showed up.
"This better be good." Sighed Monika's dad as him and her mother took their places beside her.
"Well I hope you two are happy with yourselves! You've raised a beast of a child that assaulted my angel!!" Shouted Rose's mother.
"Monika is this true?" Sternly asked Monikas dad.
"No. Rose struck first after I firmly broke up with her. I was simply defending myself."
"Mother! Father! She lies!!" whined Rose. Before an argument could erupt, the principle intervened and played everyone the footage from the security camera in the cafeteria. Needless to say the Rose's parents were beyond embarrassed when the truth was clear as day.
When they tried to justify Rose's actions, Monikas parents went off on them in a way Monika had never seen before. It felt strange watching her parents fight tooth and nail for her. They didn't even accept the pleads and negotiations Rose's parents tried to give them, even though they were technically all business partners. It was strange, Monika was sure there was more to this for her own parents benefit, but it was still nice to see her parents defend her for the first time in forever.
"Now might be a good time to mention Nurse Danny has been helping students file complaints about Rose for weeks now. Even I have sent some a few times. Before a final decision is made, I believe you should overlook the documents." Said Monika, addressing the principal.
It wasn't long after that the principle sent both Rose and Monika home with the promise of just punishments for both of them.
Just like Monika expected, her parents had been looking for an excuse to stop doing business with Rose's family for quite some time now and this was a more then perfect excuse for them. When she told them their plan, everything fell like dominoes. They excitedly made an alliance with Yuri's parents and Alice to not only expel Rose from the school, but have her arrested with charges that would actually stick.
Last they heard of Rose she moved abroad after being bailed out of jail, which was a surprise to no one.
Everything seemed peaceful, everything seemed alright and this chapter in their lives had finally come to an end, until one faithful day...
Sayori went missing.
