I slept in the early hours of the morning. It was a peaceful and restful slumber. My body was recharged after a long and tiring night. But suddenly, the sound of a phone ringing pierced the silence, jolting me out of my slumber.

Wang's phone was the source of the disturbance. He fumbled around, his movements clumsy and disoriented. Finally, he grasped the ringing phone, bringing it to his ear with a weary sigh.

"Yes?" he said groggily, his voice still filled with sleep. "What's up?"

Silence followed, as if the person on the other end of the line was considering what to say. Finally, the muffled sounds of conversation began to filter through Wang's phone.

I could sense the tension in the air as Wang engaged in the conversation. His body language shifted, becoming more alert and focused. His posture straightened, and his eyes flickered with a mixture of curiosity and annoyance.

Time seemed to stand still as Wang listened to the caller. His expression remained unreadable, hidden behind a mask of indifference. But I could tell that the phone call was causing him some unease.

Finally, the conversation ended, and Wang hung up the phone, returning it to its rightful place on the nightstand. He let out a deep sigh and turned back to face me, his eyes still filled with a mix of exhaustion and curiosity.

"Who was that?" I asked, trying to shake off the remnants of sleep.

"Just someone needing my help," Wang replied, his voice nonchalant. "Nothing to worry about."

But I could tell that he was lying. The weight of whatever had been discussed on the phone was evident on his face. It was clear he was awoken for a reason, and despite his attempts to downplay the situation, I couldn't help but feel a sense of unease.

Can I come back when am done later in the day? Wang asked and rushed out of bed to put on his clothes.

What's happening? You look agitated, I asked, getting out of bed.

I'll tell you when I get back later, I need to leave now. He replied putting on his shoes.

Wang, what is the problem? talk to me or no one is leaving this room. I hissed.

Sean, please. He pleaded. His phone rang again, and I picked up the call and put it on speaker. "Wang, I'm almost at the CIA's office and I have spoken with Mr. Fengmian. Lee said.

What's happening at the CIA's office that's got Wang all riled up. I asked.

Sean, Lee said and went mute then spoke Chinese and ended the call.

If you don't tell me what's going on right now no one leaves the room. I hissed.

Sean, Wang started but I cut him off. No more lies, no more secrets. I said coldly.

My dad found out about You and Yanli. He is on his way to the CIA's office. Wang replied, his shoulder dropping.

If your psychopathic father touches my child, I am going to skin him alive, I said, removing my clothes and rushing to the bathroom to brush. I put on a shirt and trousers and headed for the door.

Sean, you need to stay here so I can know you are safe. Wang said trying to touch me.

I am not staying here while your lunatic father goes after my child. That man needs to be put down and I don't care if he is your father. I picked up my phone and called Williams, but he was not picking up. I groaned out of frustration.

Sean, please you need to stay here, Lee will handle my dad. Wang pleaded.

I don't trust Lee; I don't trust you. Hell, I don't trust anyone around you. I am going and that's final.

Okay, but please just listen to me. Wang said.

You listen to me. Your maniac father messed with the wrong one when he chose to go after my daughter. If I have to kill him, I will not hesitate. I'd rather die than let anything happen to her. I said and opened the door and wang rushed after me.

I also need you alive, please. Just stay close to me. Wang said but everything he said entered my right ear and went out through the left.

When we got to the CIA's office, I was relieved to see Yanli and Williams. I hugged her, and she hugged me back. The warmth of her embrace brought comfort and reassurance. However, as we disengaged, I noticed concern etched on Williams' face.

We need to leave. Williams said.

"Okay," I replied, acknowledging his request. Together, we started walking towards the parking lot, with Wang looking concerned and Lee seemingly furious on the phone.

Suddenly, a voice boomed from behind, causing us to turn around. To our surprise, it was Wang's dad. His presence was intimidating, and his voice echoed in a chilling tone.

"Wang, your little secret is out," he said, his voice as cold as ice.

As I looked around, I realized Lee was standing right in front of Yanli. The situation was getting tense, and the air was filled with a mix of confusion and unease.

Wang's dad laughed maniacally, as if relishing the chaos he had unleashed. I could recall the person standing by his side, Wang's wife.

Lee, were you in on this too? Wang's dad asked, his voice filled with anger. In on what? Lee asked, his voice devoid of emotion. Don't be a little bitch with me now, Wang's dad hissed.

Dad. Wang said and moved closer to Lee.

Was it you I caught with the bitch I killed that day? Wang's dad hissed.

It was me actually, and I read your emails with Sofia. Lee hissed, anger rising in his voice.

"I should have suspected," Wang's dad laughed. "So, you influenced my son to skip school and join your little escapades?"

Dad, stop it, Wang pleaded, his voice cracking. Wang's dad, undeterred, sneered, "You have a daughter with your little bitch. Was that why you never acknowledged your marriage? You know me too well, don't you, and you still made a boy your lover?"

Wang felt a surge of anger and shame at his father's cruel words. He had always feared this moment, but hearing his father's blatant disrespect and bigotry stung deeper than he had imagined.

"I should kill all of you right now," Wang's dad hissed, his eyes burning with rage.

Wang stepped in front of Lee, his hands trembling but resolved. "Don't you dare touch them." Wang said, his voice steadying as he stared down at his father.

His dad laughed hysterically and moved closer to us. Lee pulled Wang behind him. Wang's face paled with fear, while Williams stood beside Lee, ready to defend his friends.

"You're all pathetic," Wang's dad spat, but Lee and Williams held their ground, their determination unwavering.

You told him? Lee asked the lady standing beside Wang's dad.

Yes, I did. It affected my marriage. She laughed.

Now that dad knows the truth, there's nothing to hide anymore. Go to your lover with your children, I will send the divorce papers over. Wang hissed.

What? She gasped. How did you know?

I know everything. Wang hissed.

Wang's dad pointed his gun at me with swift movements, and Yanli quickly positioned herself in front of me. The next moment, he was shooting directly at me, and Lee shot him. However, Yanli took a few bullets, although the exact number remains unknown to me. She fell to the ground.

My screams echoed, my heart pounded, no baby, please. I screamed.

"She will be fine," Lee said and wanted to pull me up. But I snatched my hand away from him. "Stay the fuck away from me, trouble follows you everywhere," I cried.

"I regret the day I met you, Wang. You snuff life out of everything," I sneered. "I don't ever want to see you again."
