Her eyes, as blue as a cloudless sky, stare blankly at me.
She always looked pass me, no matter what I do. But I am here, right now, in front of you.
"What would it take for you to see me?
What must I do or say for you to look my way?"
I ask, but her ruby lips stay still as they lose their color.
I hold her in my arms and whisper, "I'm sorry. I'm so sorry for going too far."
I heard knocking on the door.
I lean over to kiss her cold lips, and gently caress the darkening marks around her neck, before covering her with the blanket.
"Hey, buddy, I heard you took my sister home last night?" my best friend asked when I opened the door. "So, did you finally tell her how you feel?"
"How can I," I said flatly, "when she wouldn't even look my way?"
"Idiot!" he said with a loud laugh. "Didn't you know? My sister could never look straight at the eyes of the guy she loves!"
