Chapter 3
Yato Pov:
When our lunch break came, Hirata immediately got up out of his seat and headed over to the podium. Chabs, who was about to gather her things and leave, decided to stay, probably out of curiosity to hear what he had to say.
Hirata: So, hey, I was thinking I'd like to hear everyone's opinions before we have lunch, if that's okay. What do you all think?
Kushida raised her hand to answer first despite being silent during Chabs's whole explanation of the special exam.
Kushida: Mhm, aren't there going to be conflicts because people will be divided on the options in this special exam?
Horikita: She's right about that...
Suzune immediately agreed with Kushida's words and also got up from her seat.
Horikita: If we could come to a consensus on matters without fighting over anything, then there wouldn't be any reason to go through the trouble of holding this special exam in the first place.
Kushida: In that case, wouldn't it be a good idea to decide upon a leader in advance, in case there are times when we can't come toa consensus about something? I think that if we follow the decisions that such a leader would make, then we'd be able to get through this special exam without any problems
Hirata: That's true. I agree with your opinion on that, Kushida-san. That means that the leader would have a serious responsibility, though.
Yato: Choosing a leader beforehand...that's...
I just shook my head a few times amused and disappointed in the situation.
Kushdia: Actually, if you wouldn't mind...Would you be able to do it, Horikita-san?
Horikita: Me?
Kuhsida: Yes. You've acted as the leader many times before, and more importantly, I think that you would keep everyone in line well enough that there won't be any unfairness. Of course, it would be a serious responsibility, just like Hirata-kun said. So, if you'd be okay with it, Horikita-san, then...Well?
Horikita: You're right...I suppose that it's possible other classes will implement similar strategies, and it'd be a necessary measure to have in place when opinions are divided. If there's anyone who feels hesitant to follow my orders when the time calls for it, please tell me now. This is the time.
Students weren't likely going to make a bid for the position themselves or make negative comments now after hearing what a huge responsibility it would be. Kushida's proposal was swiftly approved, and everyone agreed that Suzune would lead the group in case of emergency. For a while after that, various opinions were exchanged back and forth, but no other major conclusions were reached.
Yato: ...
Having no further interest in the conversation, I got up from my seat and immediately left the classroom.
Koenji also left as soon as the bell rang, which wasn't surprising. I would have done the same, but I stayed in class for a simple reason.
This reason was also why I wasn't currently heading toward the rooftop to spend my lunch break time as usual.
Yato: Wait sensei...
Walking through the hallway, I called out to Chabs, who had left the classroom a few seconds before me. She understood the group conversation wouldn't conclude on anything today and also left.
Chabs: F-Fukazawa...
Surprised she stopped and turned around to face me.
I continued to walk to get a bit closer until I stopped when there was one meter between us. She was the reason why I stayed in class today and didn't leave for the rooftop immediately after the bell rang.
