The sports festival was reaching its end. I've been enjoying my day with the other girls and had time to cheer Fuka-chan and Kiriyama-kun.
Yet I spend most of my day with Miyabi.
During my time in this school on his side, I had never seen him as happy and with a genuine smile on his face until today.
It was all because of a particular kouhai. Fukazawa Yato.
He caught Miayabi's interest quite early last year with his unusual behavior. It was pretty uncommon for someone to be able to look Miayabi in the eye and openly challenge or confront him.
That's why this particular student also caught my attention since he's been one of the few people able to move Miyabi like Horikita-senpai did.
That's why, after a whole year of their banter at each other, I understood Fukazawa Yato was able to understand Nagumo Miyabi more than our classmates...or even I.
He not affected only Miyabi's daily life but also the people around him and us. Fuka-chan, Kiriyama-kun...people from another school year started being affected by Fukazawa Yato's presence.
When we all gathered before we left on the cruise ship, I expressed a thought that had been on my mind for a while.
Wouldn't it be great if Fukazawa Yato was in the same school year as us?
Being able to be with Miyabi smiling and happy, Fuka-chan also being part of our group and enjoying herself, Kiriyama-kun having someone to rely on since he always wanted to compete with Miyabi...
I realized that I also wanted Fukazawa Yato to be in the same school year as us...imagining this scenario pleased me and my ideal of everyone being happy altogether during our time remaining here before our adult life.
Being able to graduate fulfilled as students and having fun...
Not being stuck in regrets and graduating in a bad mood...
This is what I wished and wanted...
We can enjoy ourselves together despite walking on different paths.
Was I selfish to desire such a thing when there is such a thing as class battles in this school?
Maybe...
That's why I was maybe worse than selfish in wishing such a thing—because deep down, I knew it.
There was nothing I could do on my own...
Even if I had known Miyabi for a while, he never acted like he does today when facing Fukazawa in a match.
For a long time, I thought people like Miyabi couldn't have problems or worry as strong as they are...
That's why if I cannot change things myself, I can only dream and wish Fukazawa Yato was born in the same year as us...
