The Leaky Cauldron was alive with raucous celebration. Witches and wizards from all corners of magical Britain had gathered to toast the dawn of a new era - one where they no longer needed to hide. In a private room upstairs, away from the cacophony below, two figures sat in quieter contemplation of their victory.

Gellert Grindelwald lounged in a high-backed chair, his mismatched eyes gleaming with satisfaction as he gazed at the woman across from him. "Well, my dear," he said, raising a glass of firewhisky, "I believe congratulations are in order."

Y/N, former Auror turned ally to Grindelwald, smiled wryly as she clinked her glass against his. "To the greater good," she said, echoing his oft-repeated mantra.

"To the greater good," Grindelwald agreed, taking a sip. "Though I must say, I'm not sure which is sweeter - our victory, or having you by my side to share in it."

Y/N felt a flush creep up her neck, and she wasn't entirely sure it was just the alcohol. "Careful, Gellert. Keep talking like that and people might start to think you've gone soft."

Grindelwald chuckled, a rare sound that still sent a thrill through her. "Let them think what they will. We know the truth, don't we?"

"And what truth is that?" Y/N leaned forward, curious.

"That true strength lies not in hardness, but in the ability to adapt. To change one's mind when presented with new information." His gaze softened as it rested on her. "You taught me that, you know."

Y/N raised an eyebrow. "Me? I thought I was the one who changed sides."

"You did," Grindelwald nodded. "But in doing so, you forced me to reconsider my own positions. To see that not all who opposed me were lost causes."

"I'm glad I could broaden your horizons," Y/N said dryly, but there was warmth in her voice.

Grindelwald leaned back, swirling the amber liquid in his glass. "Do you remember the first time we met? Truly met, I mean. Not as adversaries, but as... something else."

Y/N's mind drifted back to that night, nearly two years ago now...

The rain was coming down in sheets, obscuring her vision as Y/N crouched behind a crumbling stone wall. Her wand was clutched tightly in her hand, her breath coming in short gasps. She'd been separated from her team, cornered by Grindelwald's followers.

"Come now," a voice called out, somehow cutting through the storm. "Is this really how you want things to end?"

Y/N's heart hammered in her chest as she recognized the voice. Grindelwald himself. She gritted her teeth, preparing to go down fighting.

"I have a proposition for you," Grindelwald continued. "A chance to see things from a different perspective. All I ask is that you listen."

"Why should I trust you?" Y/N called back, her voice hoarse.

There was a pause, then: "Because I'm coming to you unarmed."

Before Y/N could process his words, a figure stepped around the wall. Grindelwald stood before her, hands raised, his wand nowhere in sight.

"What are you playing at?" Y/N demanded, her own wand trained on his heart.

Grindelwald's mismatched eyes met hers, and for the first time, she saw something in them beyond fanaticism. There was... curiosity. Interest. "I've watched you, Y/N," he said softly. "You're different from the others. You question things. You don't simply accept what you're told."
