TW: Drugs Abuse

The lights of the city flickered in neon brilliance, casting eerie shadows over the streets below. Y/N, a hybrid of Incubus and Hellhound, had always stood out. His once-vibrant blue Incubus skin was now often hidden beneath the guise of a human—dark brown hair, tired eyes, and clothes that did little to conceal the scars that mapped his body. A life of pit fighting, drug abuse, and neglect had left him broken, scarred, and lost.

His childhood, however, hadn't always been this bleak.

Back then, Y/N was full of life, with dreams as big as the stars. His best friend, Octavia, was his constant companion, her sombre outlook often balanced by his rebellious spirit. Despite being two years older, Y/N felt a deep connection with her. While other kids in Hell looked down on him for his mixed blood, Octavia saw him for who he was beneath the surface. Their bond was pure—something precious in a world as dark as Hell.

Stolas, Octavia's father, had been a bright spot in Y/N's life too. Unlike Stella, who Y/N loathed with every fibre of his being, Stolas treated him with kindness. Stolas was the closest thing to a father figure he ever had. But that love and warmth was something he had to abandon, all thanks to his own terrible parents.

The memories of his parents were haunting. The constant verbal abuse, the violent outbursts, and worst of all, the introduction to the drugs that would later consume him. They treated Y/N like a tool—a means to earn money in the illegal world of pit fighting and black-market deals. His childhood had been cut short, and as the years passed, the weight of his reality became too much to bear.

He still remembered the day he wrote his final letter to Octavia.

Five years ago...

Y/N sat in the corner of his dingy, crumbling room. The sound of his father's yelling echoed from downstairs, but he drowned it out as he scrawled onto the worn piece of paper. His heart ached with every word he wrote. He had to explain why she wouldn't see him for a while, why he had to disappear.

"Octavia, I don't know how to say this without sounding like a total loser, but... I've got to go away. My parents, they're getting worse, and I'm caught up in things I shouldn't be. You've always been my best friend, and you deserve to know the truth. I don't want you to worry about me, but I can't let them hurt you, or Stolas. Please... just know that I'll come back. I promise. I'll come back when I'm better, and we'll see the stars together again. Like we used to."

His hand trembled as he folded the letter, stuffing it into an envelope before sealing it with a shaky breath. He wouldn't risk saying goodbye in person; they'd be watching. So, he sent it secretly, hoping it would reach her without his parents ever finding out.

He never imagined what would come next.

A year after sending that letter, Y/N's world truly crumbled. Addiction had its claws deep in him. He didn't even know when the drugs had become more than just an escape—they had become his entire existence. And then, in a fit of drug-fueled rage, he snapped.

He didn't mean to kill his parents. At least, that's what he told himself to make the guilt a little more bearable. But the angelic weapons they had been selling on the black market became the instruments of their destruction. When the haze cleared, and he saw their lifeless bodies on the floor, Y/N knew there was no turning back. He had become the monster they always said he'd be.

Three years of rehab followed. It wasn't easy, and it wasn't the cure-all solution people thought it would be. Hell's rehabilitation centres were notorious for being more about control than healing. But even there, in the midst of other lost souls, Y/N found something—someone—to give him hope.
