The house was unusually quiet. No sounds of Connie's running commentary on basketball stats, no rustling of papers as she updated her program, no playful banter between her and Y/N. Minh glanced at the clock; Connie would already be knee-deep in the excitement of her first sleepover at her best friend's house. Minh had spent the entire day helping her pick out pyjamas, snacks, and a gift for her friend, all while marvelling at how quickly her little girl was growing up.

Now, with the house empty except for her and Y/N, Minh felt the silence settle over her like a warm blanket. It was peaceful, but also thrilling—a rare chance to have the whole evening alone with her husband.

"Movie's ready," Y/N called from the living room. He was sprawled on the couch in sweatpants and a fitted T-shirt that showed off his athletic frame. Minh couldn't help but admire the way his muscles flexed even in casual movements as he adjusted the pillows and set the remote on the coffee table.

"I come bearing snacks," Minh announced, carrying a tray loaded with popcorn, chocolate-covered almonds, and two glasses of wine. She set it on the side table and plopped down beside him, tucking her legs underneath her.

Y/N pulled her close immediately, wrapping an arm around her shoulders. "Perfect timing. I was just starting to miss you."

Minh laughed, resting her head against his chest. "You so dramatic. I was gone two minutes."

"Two minutes too long," he teased, brushing a kiss against her temple. Minh felt a familiar flutter in her chest—the same flutter she'd felt on their first date, and every day since.

As the movie started, Minh tried to focus on the plot, but her attention kept drifting. Y/N's warmth was intoxicating, his steady breathing and the gentle rise and fall of his chest lulling her into a blissful daze. His fingers absentmindedly played with a strand of her hair, sending shivers down her spine.

"You watching?" Y/N murmured, his voice low and teasing.

"Of course," Minh lied, tilting her head up to meet his eyes. The corner of his mouth quirked up in a knowing smile.

"You're terrible at lying," he said, his hand trailing from her hair to gently cup her cheek. "What's on your mind?"

Minh sighed, her voice soft. "Just thinking how happy I am. You and Connie bonding so much... It means everything to me."

Y/N's eyes softened, his thumb brushing against her cheek. "She's an amazing kid, Minh. And that's all because of you. I just feel lucky to be part of your lives."

Minh smiled, her heart swelling. She leaned up to kiss him—a soft, lingering kiss meant to convey the depth of her gratitude. Y/N responded immediately, his lips warm and firm against hers, his hand slipping to the small of her back to pull her closer.

The movie became a distant memory as the kiss deepened. Y/N's fingers traced lazy patterns along her spine, igniting a slow, steady heat that spread through her body. Minh's hands found their way to his chest, her fingers curling into the fabric of his shirt as she lost herself in the sensation of his closeness.

"You always do this," she murmured against his lips, her tone playful.

"Do what?" Y/N asked, his voice husky.

"Make me forget everything else," she replied, her fingers sliding up to his shoulders.

Y/N chuckled softly, his breath warm against her skin. "Is that a bad thing?"

"Not at all," Minh admitted, kissing him again. This time, the kiss was more urgent, filled with the kind of passion that came from years of love and understanding. Y/N responded in kind, his hands sliding to her waist and lifting her effortlessly into his lap.
