Male Y/N
The morning in Monstropolis began like any other, with the sun's vibrant light spilling over the colourful city. In Celia's cosy apartment, Y/N stirred awake in his bed—a soft, plush nest of pillows and blankets designed just for him by Celia. He stretched with a yawn, his human heart already feeling at home in the monster world after weeks of living there. But today felt different—there was a certain buzz of excitement in the air.
"Good morning, sweetie!" Celia's cheerful voice called from the kitchen. The smell of sizzling flapjack grubs wafted through the air, making Y/N's stomach rumble. He threw off his blanket, padded over to the kitchen, and peeked in.
Celia stood at the counter, wearing an apron adorned with wiggling eyeballs. Her snake hair wriggled as if they too were excited about something.
"Morning, Celia," Y/N said, rubbing his eyes.
Celia turned around and crouched to his level, her face glowing with excitement. "Good morning, Y/N! Guess what?"
"What?" Y/N asked, curiosity sparking in his voice.
Celia's single eye twinkled with anticipation. "Today's a special day—it's Scarebright Eve! It's one of the biggest holidays in Monstropolis, and we're going to celebrate it together."
"Scarebright Eve?" Y/N tilted his head. "What's that?"
"Oh, it's the most magical time of the year," Celia said, her voice growing more animated. "It's a day when monsters come together to celebrate light, laughter, and scares in harmony. There's food, games, decorations, and so much fun. And guess what? This year, I've planned something extra special just for you."
Y/N's eyes widened. "Really? What is it?"
Celia smiled and placed a plate of flapjack grubs in front of him. "Finish your breakfast first, and then I'll show you."
Y/N nodded eagerly and dug into his meal, his mind racing with possibilities. Scarebright Eve sounded unlike anything he had experienced in the human world, and he couldn't wait to see what Celia had in store.
After breakfast, Celia led Y/N into the living room, which was filled with boxes bursting with decorations. Sparkling cobwebs, glowing eyeball lanterns, and shimmering fang garlands spilt out onto the floor. A tall, twisted Scarebright Tree stood in the corner, its skeletal branches waiting to be adorned.
"First, we're going to decorate the apartment," Celia announced. "Scarebright Eve is all about making everything look festive and spooky."
Y/N clapped his hands, already feeling the excitement of the holiday. He picked up a garland of glowing fangs and draped it around the tree, giggling as the fangs snapped playfully.
"Perfect placement!" Celia said, clapping her hands. She handed him a set of floating eyeball ornaments. "These go on the tree next."
As Y/N hung the ornaments, he marvelled at how the eyeballs seemed to blink and look around. "This is so cool!" he exclaimed.
Celia laughed. "Wait until you see the topper." She pulled out a shimmering, bat-shaped star that seemed to flap its wings as she placed it on top of the tree.
Y/N stared up at the completed tree, his heart swelling with joy. "It's amazing," he whispered.
Celia smiled down at him, her eye soft with affection. "And it's not done yet. Scarebright isn't complete without the Light of Frights." She handed him a glowing crystal shaped like a tiny monster's face. "This goes in the centre of the tree. It brings all the decorations to life."
Y/N carefully placed the crystal in the tree's centre. The moment it clicked into place, the entire tree came alive. The branches shimmered, the ornaments giggled, and the garlands swayed as if dancing to an unseen rhythm. Y/N's jaw dropped in amazement.
