The golden light of the afternoon sun bathed the rolling vineyard hills, creating a picture-perfect backdrop for Kim and Jamie's wedding. Guests mingled under strings of fairy lights, their laughter carrying on the soft breeze. At the heart of the celebration, Amanda stood beside Y/N, her hand resting lightly on his arm. She looked radiant in a flowing emerald dress that complemented her sun-kissed skin and the golden locks cascading over her shoulders. Y/N couldn't take his eyes off her.

"You're staring again," Amanda whispered, a playful smile dancing on her lips as she leaned closer to him.
Y/N grinned, unabashed. "Can you blame me? You're the most beautiful woman here."
Amanda laughed softly, her cheeks tinged pink. "Flattery will get you everywhere, Mr. Mills."
As the ceremony concluded and the newlyweds shared their first kiss, the crowd erupted into cheers and applause. Y/N clapped along, glancing at Kim and Jamie with pride. His little sister had found her happiness, and he couldn't be more thrilled for her. But a small part of him couldn't help but marvel at how much his own life had changed in the last year.
The reception was held in a grand tent adorned with white drapes and shimmering chandeliers. Tables were adorned with fresh bouquets and candles, their soft glow creating an intimate ambience. Y/N and Amanda found their seats near the head table, where Kim and Jamie basked in the joy of their special day.
As the evening wore on, speeches were made, glasses were raised, and laughter filled the air. Bryan's toast was predictably stoic but heartfelt, and Y/N felt a pang of pride listening to his father speak. When it was his turn to toast, Y/N stood, his arm still resting protectively on Amanda's shoulder.
"To Kim and Jamie," Y/N began, raising his glass. "You've shown all of us what true love looks like. It's messy, imperfect, but worth every moment. Here's to a lifetime of laughter, love, and memories. And Jamie, if you ever mess up, just remember—I'm watching." He ended with a smirk, earning a round of laughter and cheers.
Amanda gave him a gentle nudge as he sat down. "Ever the protective big brother."
Y/N leaned closer, his voice low and teasing. "And what about you? If I remember correctly, you made me promise to go easy on Jamie."
"I may have had ulterior motives," Amanda quipped, her eyes sparkling mischievously. "I didn't want to deal with your lectures if you scared him off."
As dinner gave way to dancing, Y/N and Amanda found themselves swaying together under the soft glow of the fairy lights. The music was slow, the kind that made you want to hold someone close and forget the world around you.
"You're awfully good at this," Amanda murmured, her head resting on his chest as they moved in perfect sync.
"Good at what?" Y/N asked, his hand resting lightly on the small of her back.
"Everything," she replied, looking up at him with an expression that made his heart ache in the best way. "Saving me, loving me, making me feel like I matter."
Y/N's throat tightened, and he pressed a kiss to her forehead. "You matter more than anything, Amanda. You always will."
She smiled, and in that moment, surrounded by music and laughter, everything else faded away. It was just them—two people who had found their way back to each other through chaos and pain.
As the night wore on, the reception turned into a lively afterparty. Guests swapped formal shoes for sneakers, and the dance floor filled with revellers of all ages. Amanda and Y/N sat together at a quieter table, sipping on sparkling water and sharing knowing smiles.
"Are you ready?" Amanda asked, her voice soft but excited.
Y/N exhaled, his hand finding hers under the table. "As ready as I'll ever be. Let's do it."
Amanda stood first, her heels clicking against the wooden floor as she made her way to the centre of the room. Y/N followed, his heart pounding—not with fear, but with exhilaration. Kim noticed them and waved them over, her face lighting up with curiosity.
"Hey, what's going on?" Kim asked, her arm looped around Jamie's waist.
Amanda glanced at Y/N, who nodded. She cleared her throat, drawing the attention of the room. The music softened as people turned to look at the couple standing together, their hands intertwined.
"Everyone," Amanda began, her voice steady but filled with emotion, "thank you for being here to celebrate Kim and Jamie. It's been such a beautiful day, and I think we can all agree that their love is truly inspiring."
A wave of applause rippled through the crowd, and Amanda smiled before continuing. "But while we're all here, Y/N and I have some news we'd like to share."
Kim's eyes widened, her gaze darting between Amanda and her brother. "Wait—what's happening?"
Amanda took a deep breath, her free hand resting gently on her stomach. "We're having a baby."
The room erupted into cheers and gasps of delight. Kim's jaw dropped, and she launched herself at Amanda, enveloping her in a tight hug. "Oh my God, Amanda! I'm so happy for you!" She turned to Y/N, her eyes glistening with tears. "You're going to be a dad?"
Y/N chuckled, rubbing the back of his neck. "Looks that way."
Bryan approached, his usually stoic expression softened by a rare smile. "Congratulations, son," he said, clapping Y/N on the shoulder before pulling Amanda into a gentle hug. "You're going to make a great mom."
The rest of the evening was a whirlwind of congratulations and celebrations. Guests clinked glasses in Y/N and Amanda's honour, toasting to new beginnings and the promise of a bright future. Amanda beamed as she answered questions about baby names and due dates, her joy infectious.
Later, as the party began to wind down, Y/N and Amanda found themselves alone under the canopy of stars. The vineyard was quiet now, the faint hum of crickets filling the air. Y/N had his arm draped over Amanda's shoulders, and she leaned into him, her head resting against his chest.
"Did you see Kim's face when we told her?" Amanda asked, her voice filled with amusement.
Y/N chuckled. "I think she was more excited than we were."
Amanda tilted her head to look up at him, her expression soft. "Are you excited?"
Y/N didn't hesitate. "More than I ever thought I could be. You've changed everything for me, Amanda. You've given me something to fight for, to look forward to."
She reached up, her fingers brushing his jaw as she pulled him into a kiss. It was slow and tender, a kiss that spoke of love and promises and forever. When they pulled apart, Amanda's eyes were glistening.
"I love you, Y/N," she whispered.
Y/N smiled, his heart so full it felt like it might burst. "I love you too, Amanda. More than anything."
As they stood there together, under the vast expanse of the night sky, Y/N knew that this was just the beginning. Their journey had been anything but easy, but every twist and turn had brought them here—to this moment, to this love, to this family they were building.
And he wouldn't trade it for anything in the world.
