Dylan's pov:

"So are we gonna actually go to Olivia's thing?" I asked Kacey.

It was Friday morning and I was driving Kacey and I to school. Olivia had mentioned her little party to us yesterday at lunch and invited all of us to come. My friends put smiles on their faces at the time to be polite, but I wasn't sure if they actually wanted to go.

"Umm" Kacey said half paying attention as she carefully finished doing her eye liner while looking into the car mirror. She put the cap back on, flipped the mirror up, and looked at me.

"Yeah I mean I think I'll go, as long as someone else does"

I nodded.

"Does that mean you're going?" She asked me.

"I think so. Olivia seems nice."

Kacey looked at me for a second before nodding. "Yeah she does."

The car was quiet for a minute before I spoke up again. "I don't think V will go though, don't think it's really her scene."

"Mmmm anywhere with alcohol is her scene" Kacey said making me laugh.

"True."

A few minutes later we pulled into the parking lot and got out of the car. Kacey and I walked side by side to the building.

I kept glancing over at her every few seconds in hope that she would say something else about going to the party. I really wanted to go. I needed to.

All of my thoughts have been taken up by my dad's birthday that was coming up on Sunday. I needed a distraction.

"Alright see you at lunch?" Kacey said, just as stepped into the building.

"Yeah." I said back.

My class was on the 4th floor so I had to immediately split up from her in order to go upstairs. She had her photography class which was on the 1st floor. I had science in room 405.

After second period, I walked right to my next class which was history. For the most part history was pretty chill, it was just really boring. But at least it's not a hard class.

I walked down the stairs to the 3rd floor and all the way to the other side of the building in order to get to the class, which was in room 361.

I walked in and sat down towards the back. I was surprisingly pretty early compared to the rest of the class since there were only a few others sitting at the desks around the room.

A minute or two later more people started to flood into the classroom, Leo and Maddie included. They walked, one in front of the other, around the scattered mess of desks, and to the back of the room. I was looking at them, trying to catch their eye, but either they didn't see me or were ignoring me for some reason. They sat at the two desks behind me where they always sat. I almost turned around to face them but Mr. Mathew's started talking. I had been meaning to ask them if they were going to Olivia's party, but I hadn't quite gotten the chance. I'll try again later.

Maddie's pov:

I knew Dylan was looking at us. I averted my eyes elsewhere during the walk to our seats. I could tell Leo got the memo since she was doing the same.

I took a seat and tried to not acknowledge her presence. That may sound a little mean but I just don't want her to start up a conversation with me. I can't handle that right now.

Mr. Mathew's talked for the first few minutes of class, giving us the directions for the activity he had planned. It was basically an online 'scavenger hunt' he made as an attempt to make textbook reading sound more fun. He was letting us do this in pairs or alone, so Leo and I slightly turned out desks to face each other when we were allowed to start.
