Dylan's pov:
"Hey" I said to Valerie once I walked up to her. She was standing outside the front doors. I hadn't talked to her since yesterday. She had a grumpy look on her face.
"Hey" she said back quietly. She had her arms crossed.
I sighed. "I get it. I was a dick. I'm sorry." I said to her. She uncrossed her arms and looked up at me.
Uh oh.
"You weren't a dick...." She said. Oh...Well that's surprising.
"I just want you to be able to talk to me. But I know I pushed too hard....and I know I've been giving you a lot of shit about it. So I am.....sorry."
I just looked at her. Wasn't expecting that. I moved closer to her.
"It's fine V, really." I paused. "I just don't think it means as much as....you....think it does."
"Yeah okay fine." She sighed. "Guess I just thought it would be cool if my best friend was sleeping with the cheer captain" she said sheepishly. Oh my god.
"You're insane." I said, giving her a jokingly smile.
She stood on her tippy toes and wrapped her arm around my shoulder. I ducked to try to get out of it, but she reached across my body with her other arm to trap me.
"Really?" I asked as I continued walking forward, trapped between her arms.
"Yep you're stuck with me."
She let one arm go and we walked into the building together.

Maddie's pov:
I sat in math class anxiously waiting for the bell to ring. I hadn't really paid any attention the entire period. I had history next......which meant I had to see Dylan. I considered skipping but I kept circling back to Leo's words. I had to just face it.
Once the bell rung I immediately stood up. I had already packed up my stuff secretly 10 minutes ago. I had to get to history before Dylan. I don't think I can handle walking past her.
I rushed through the hallways, saying 'sorry' to a few people on the way that I bumped into.
Once I got to the room I peaked around the corner. Dylan wasn't there yet. I let out a sigh of relief and walked into the room. I took a seat in the back so she wouldn't have to walk past me.
Usually Leo and I walk to class together but I told her I would meet her there and get seats.
Once she walked through the door she gave me a grumpy look. Oops.
"Um hey." She said once she got to me in the back.
"Hi." I said back. Leo sat down next to me.
I could feel her eyes on me. My leg was slightly bouncing. "Maddie." She said lowly.
I turned my head.
"I know you're nervous, but you have to try to breathe okay?"
I stopped bouncing my leg.
"I know." I said and sighed.
I wiped my sweaty hands on my jeans and placed my arms on the desk. I fiddled with my hands and stared at the doorway. More people came in, but not her. Then I picked up my phone. I probably shouldn't be staring at the door when she walks in.
2 minutes later the bell rung. Still no Dylan. I felt Leo's eyes on me again, I didn't look at her.
Maybe she's late, I thought to myself.
