Maddie's POV:
I stared at the outfit laid out on my bed for what felt like forever. I picked out a longer white skirt and a light blue top. It wasn't too much, but it was still a little more dressed up than usual.
I kept staring at the clothes laying on my bed in front of me. I couldn't decide if I was overthinking it or if this was just the nerves talking.
After another few minutes of debating, I decided I was being ridiculous. The outfit looked fine.
I walked over to my closet and as I grabbed a pair of shoes to go with it, I heard a knock at my door.
"Yo can I come in?" My sister's voice called through the door.
"Yeah, come in," I replied, trying to keep my tone light.
The door creaked open, and Sadie stepped inside. She immediately eyed the outfit spread out on the bed with a raised brow.
"Whats up?" I asked her. I brought a pair of shoes over to my bed, and put them on the floor beneath my outfit.
"You going out tonight?" she asked.
Oops I forgot I didn't tell her. My parents usually go out on Friday nights so I already had told them I'd be out with friends... but I sort of forgot I was ditching my sister.
"Oh yeah, sorry I forgot to tell you. I'm going out with Leo tonight. I shouldn't be back too late" I said.
Sadie tilted her head, quiet for a second. "Oh."
"What?" I looked up at her.
"Well, Mom told me to ask if you could drive me to soccer practice. I've got it at six." She clasped her hands behind her back and rocked on her heels.
And why can't you drive yourself?" I asked, already guessing the answer.
She huffed. "Mom doesn't want me driving at night yet."
I let out a sigh and sat on the edge of the bed. "I have dinner plans at six."
"Oh" she said.
"Yeah." I paused, thinking.
"Where's your practice?"
"Gutterson Field," she said.
I mentally mapped it—pretty sure that was just past Dylan's place.
"Okay," I finally said. "I can take you, but it'll have to be early. Like 5:40."
"Okay! Thanks!" she said, turning on her heel and hurrying out before I could change my mind.
She closed the door behind her, and I stared at the skirt on my bed again.
I picked up my phone again to text Dylan.
Dylans POV:
My phone buzzed on the counter next to the drink station, and I glanced at it while pouring a Coke.
Maddie: hey, I have to drop my sister off at soccer around 5:45 so I'll just meet you at your place after that if thats cool
I smiled, quickly typing back with one hand while balancing a tray in the other.
Dylan: yeah sure, sounds good
I slipped the phone back into my apron and turned around just in time to see Mac slide past me with a tray of empty glasses, barely dodging my shoulder.
"You're texting your girlfriend, aren't you," he said with a grin.
"Do you want me to hit you?" I started, making his smile drop.
