Who could have done that? Who filed the motion for that bill? It wasn't me.
I turned towards Chaitra.
"How did you know I was here?" I asked.
"I overheard bhai talking with dad," she said crying.
I tried consoling her to the best ability.
"Go home," I said. Her parents must be tense about her.
"This is my home," she said.
"We are divorced. We can't live together" I said and she smiled.
"We are not. I didn't sign the papers" she said.
So I still have a chance.
But should I take the chance?
What if she gets hurt because of me again?
Will she ever be happy with me?
My past demons will haunt her not only me, if I do.
I can't throw her in that deadly pit again. No, I can't take that chance.
"You will never be happy with me," I said.
"I was always happy with you before my expectations and lack of trust in you ruined it," she said.
"What if I will hurt you?" I asked.
"You think you will?" She questioned.
"Not even if I am held at gunpoint" I replied and she smiled.
"Then let's go," she said.
"Where?"
"To my parent's house. I don't think my father will let me go with you again. Convince him and take his daughter with you" she said and I gave her my most genuine smile.
I picked up my unpacked bags and went to her car.
"I will drive" she said and I sat in the passenger seat.
We reached her parent's house. I stood at the door while she went to call her father.
Mahika and Aadrik were already sitting in the hall. Mahika looked pissed at Aadrik for some reason. They didn't notice me for a while.
She came to me as soon as she saw me and I gently hugged her. Aadrik rolled his eyes.
"How far along are you?" I asked.
"Eight and a half" she smiled rubbing her belly.
Chaitra brought her father. He didn't look pleased with me being there.
"Why are you here?" He asked sternly.
"To ask for your permission to take Chaitra with me" I said avoiding making eye contact with him.
