Two weeks passed in the blink of an eye. I am preparing an amazing proposal for her with the help of her friends.

I was working from home today to finalise everything for the proposal. I am taking Shivangi's help with the ring, after all, she is the best. For food for our date, I am taking Srishti's help and I will be cooking a few things as well, Mahika doesn't stop singing praises of her cooking skills. So I need to prove to her that I am a better cook. Rumika will help me choose a dress for her. Everything is set, just implementation is due.

I received a video call from Shivangi on my laptop.

"Hey Aadrik, the design is complete" she said excitedly and showed me the design. It was mesmerising. It was a pink diamond on a platinum band with a stunning design on the band.

"I am at a loss of words. It is exactly what I want to see on Mahika's finger. Thank you" I said staring at the design on the screen.

"It will take a week to make it. I will personally deliver it to you" she said smiling.

"Thanks, Shivi," I said looking at her.

"You're welcome Aadu" she teased me. I hate it when someone calls me Aadu and she is the only one who dares to do it.

"Shut up," I said.

"How are you? He is treating you well right?" I asked her concerned.

She nodded and said nothing.

"I am sorry," I said.

"Come on, leave it. Someone is knocking on the door, so I need to go. Love you Aadrik. Bye," she said.

"Love you too Shivi. Bye," I said and ended the call. I miss our boarding school days. Her mischief, her sulking and her pranks. The only one we all were scared of in school was her.

I laughed like a crazy person recollecting all her insane acts.

Suddenly someone opened the door to my study without knocking. I looked up and saw Mahika.

"Why are you laughing?" She asked.

I can't tell her. She might suspect me and my proposal might flop.

"Why are you smiling?" I countered.

"Srishti's father died, we need to attend the funeral and get ready," she said.

"You are smiling because he is dead" I questioned. That's quite an unusual reaction to the death of her best friend's father.

"He deserved death," she said casually. "Get ready, we need to go now," she said and left.

There were many rumours about him in the society. The most famous ones were him promising his daughter to the Romano and the other was him killing his brother.
